I've always had issues with my lips being chapped. I'm constantly putting Vaseline on them at night and chapstick on them throughout the day, but I'm not sure if that's helping or hurting! I'm to the point where I can't ever even wear lipstick (which used to be my favorite go to makeup) because it will just flake off and look gross. I GIVE UP! Any suggestions would be great! With engagement parties, bridal showers, and a wedding coming up I want this issue solved before it's forever documented lol

You might also try a gentle scrub with sugar or baking soda to exfoliate.

Drink more water and look for a chapstick with vitamin E and no alcohol in it. A lot of big brands like Chapstick contain alcohol. So although they temporary feel moisturizing they are in turn drying your lips out more. Burts Bees isn't bad and I love Rose Salve.

Drink more water, find a good lip scrub (I make my own) and find a medicated lip balm. Burt's Bees is awesome

I get actually cranky when my lips are chapped. I'm literally never without Burt's Bees, I have lots of flavors but when my lips are seriously dry I go for their one with vitamin E and peppermint.

Don't do this if your lips are sore and cracked but if they are flaky you can try exfoliating them using a face scrub and/or washcloth and following up right away with chapstick.

You may want to try a humidifier at night if you're super dried out when you wake up.

You might also need to change up your lipstick as some can be super dry (like the one I'm wearing right now, it's matte finish and it's like a desert on my face). What about trying a liquid lipstick or lip stain? I was going to recommend my favorite stain to you but I just did a search for it so I could link you and apparently they maybe don't make it anymore (nooooo!)

I make a scrub from coconut oil and brown sugar. Carmex is amazing at healing dry chapped lips

You already said it girl just give up, and stop using so much lip moisturizer. Your body has to shed the old skin cells before it will create new ones, and by keeping those dead cells moisturized you are just keeping them around longer. Don't moisturize for a little while but definitely exfoliate. It will get worse before it gets better but then it will be so much better! Then try to only use Chapstick when your lips are being exposed to the elements, and make sure that it is a natural oil or wax based lip balm that doesn't have chemicals in it that can actually make you feel like you need it more.

I rarely put anything on my lips. All you need is water. Stay hydrated and you will be fine. Putting stuff on them constantly isn't going to help.

Blistex DCT- we used to use it for marching band when our lips would be cracked and bleeding. Also, you can buy vitamin e gelcaps break them open and put that directly on your lips.

Aquaphor ointment worked for me when nothing else did. Not even the formula for lips. Jus the regular ointment. I highly recommend trying it.

I order Alba Hawaiian lip balm on Amazon. It works wonders.

As for lipsticks, try Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm. It's a lip balm with color. I use the red one (can't remember the name) and it looks like lipstick, but it's soft and creamy and never flakes off.

I actually found that I was having a reaction to the beeswax that many of the more natural moisturizers use and it was making my lips more dry/chapped. I found Hurraw lip balms and I love them! They smell great, have very minimal taste, and moisturize for hours. Here's their site for info (vegan, cruelty free, raw, organic, etc):

I generally get it from amazon but thought the information might be helpful.

I used to have the same problem. My lips would chap to to point of splitting and bleeding. I kept the Vaseline but ditched the chapstick. Try something more natural like Burt's bees. That combined with a drastic increase in my water intake made a world of difference.

You can kill two birds with one stone and use Burts bees lipstick. They have multiple colors. It treats your lips same way chap stick does, but also served as a makeup

1 - up your water intake!

    2- Don't lick your lips

3 - go with a more natural lip balm- avoid chemicals

4 - exfoliate with a wash cloth or a soft toothbrush daily
