Help decorating my tent wedding!

Briana, on June 29, 2021 at 8:57 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7
Sooo long story short my indoor venue was sold and we were given a huge tent for the reception. We’re having our ceremony and reception there. My wedding is on Halloween and I’m trying to figure out how I can decorate such a large space. It looks so plain and the coordinator told me we should avoid high centerpieces since it’s on the water and may get blown over. My MIL who used to own a flower shop and has done hundreds of weddings thinks we’ll be fine and can manage something other than low. So that was another wrench thrown into my plan. Any tips and suggestions would be helpful! I’ll include a few pics!

I’m having so many thoughts my head is going to explode lol
    Have you looked on Pinterest?
Also, are you embracing Halloween? Just fall? Neither? What other design decisions have you made (cake, BM dresses, etc).I think you could do an elegant ‘nod’ to Halloween with (LED) candles (maybe some floating in a bowl) and sugar pumpkins (and large ones at entrances). Those can be on tables as a low centerpiece, or grouped at the side of each end aisle chair. Pip-vine garland and grapevine garlands can be part of table runners/centerpieces. I’m not thinking rustic, you can have lots of modern and elegant aspects to it like crystal candle sticks or (burnished) silver table vases (which can give you height but be incredibly weighted). Again, it depends on how close to Halloween recognizing you want to be.

I don't have specific decor recommendations, but if you're concerned about wind, mounting putty can be a great help.

OMG! That’s an awesome opportunity! Twinkle lights plus vines with flowers (fake from Amazon). Poor over Pinterest- that was my go to for anything wedding related.

You can also look into some colored up-lighting. Lighting can do a lot to transform a space

I think it makes sense to listen to the venue coordinator's advice about what works best at that location. There's nothing wrong with low centerpieces and they would certainly be better than watching your tall ones get blown over.

We had farm tables so for flowers we did assorted bud vases and I love how it came out. I think something similar could work for your event because you have longer tables. The perks of the bud vases is that each vase only contains a few flowers so isn't too heavy and not a big "wall" that could catch the wind the way a larger centerpiece might. The vases were also really easy to talk/see between because they aren't too bulky, of varying heights, and the vases were clear, which allowed people on opposite sides of the table to see each other and have a conversation. I feel like it was more visually impactful than just doing a short centerpiece but still was very practical in a way that large or tall centerpieces usually aren't.
