Help! Don't Know What to do.

Help! Don't Know What to do. 1

I got my wedding dress around Sept 2017. Which was WAY too early as I had not even started to plan the wedding yet. It only happened because I was out with my mom and she just suggested we go into the shop to "see what they have." Lol. It's a gorgeous dress but my style has changed some since 4 years ago and I don't even fit in it anymore. Smiley sad Has anyone ever had/wanted to sell their first wedding dress to get another one?? How did that go?? Wedding is October 18th of this year so I'm not entirely confident that I will lose enough weight in that time frame. TIA for advice!

Try To sell it on Facebook Marketplace, Nearlynewlywed, stillwhite, poshmark, eBay and preownedweddingdress. I’d start looking for a new dress immediately as your date is so close.

That's what I'm leaning towards too. I didn't know where I could try to sell the one I have. Thank you!

Yeah, you definitely can sell it. My major question right now is did you find another dress. David’s Bridal has a layaway program if you need to wait to buy a new one completely until you sell your old one. I got my dress from David’s bridal and they told me it would take 6 months to come in. However thankfully it only took 4 months, but I’m worried if you’ll get a dress in time before your wedding since it’s 3ish months away. Maybe I’m wrong I hope I’m wrong but just wanted to put that out there. Hope for you all the best ♥️

If your gut says get a new dress, I think you should! Even if you sell this one after the fact. Only issue may be finding a new dress in time and getting alterations done. My wedding is a week before ours and just sent me dress off for alterations. I think the lead time for dresses is 4-6 months, maybe more because of Covid delays. You may be limited to something off the rack.

Your dress is really pretty. You definitely can sell it but you would immediately have to start searching for another dress if your wedding is in 3 months.

Oh yeah! My appt to look for another one is next Sunday. I'm going to try to find a new one regardless if I can sell the first one before hand first or not.

If this dress isn't "The One" I wouldn't wear it to marry "The One"
You need to be 100% happy. I would try selling on Poshmark, Marketplace or there's a ton of other bridal resale sites. Get the dress you love!

Thank you for the heads up! I wouldn't mind that. I've already got an appt to find another one next weekend and regardless if I sell the other one or mot beforehand I'll be trying to find one ASAP.

Yes! my sister bought her dress, and then when it came in she didn't love it anymore, so she bought something else. She went shopping in July for her November wedding. So, it can be done! I'd definitely do so if you're not happy with the dress you have - I think it's beautiful but I know exactly the feeling you mean and I don't think you should wear it if you feel so down about it.

That said, do you think you could fall in love with it again? You might - it's so hard to remember and capture what you fell in love with before it's fully altered to fit, before you see it with hair and makeup etc etc.

David's Bridal also has Clearance section with dresses in all different size ranges that you can take home same day. Some of my bridesmaids got a clearance dress and some had to order theirs but Check the Clearance they have a great selection.
