help (face wax acne)

Sydney, on June 20, 2019 at 10:44 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 11
Hi guys, I got my whole face waxed (always have that little annoying peach fuzz and wanted to see if I wanted to do it again before the wedding) a few days ago and at first all was great. The lady gave me a relaxing facial massage with this face cream afterwards. But a few hours later and still I have the WORST acne I’ve had in my entire life, and I’m not exaggerating at all. I honestly look like a 13 year old that doesn’t wash their face! My skin is generally pretty clear so this is very concerning for me. I’ve exfoliated, tried every facial scrub I have, removing my makeup, all of that, and it seems that it’s just getting worse instead of better, and my face always feels greasy. Has anyone had an experience similar to this and can help a girl out! I’m standing up in my best friends wedding in a week as well and I don’t want to look like this 😭

I don't know if it'll work for you but I bought pimple patches to try. And theyre pretty good. They basically are little stickers you put on whiteheads and they suck up all the pus and oil

I would avoid using scrubs so much they can aggravate your acne or dry your skin out causing your skin to secrete more oil and produce more acne. I recommend washing twice daily with a gentle cleanser and using spot treatments overnight (or pimple patches like PP suggested) to try and dry up the acne/bring all the dirt from your pores to the surface. Exfoliating I would do 2-3x weekly MAXIMUM and that if your skin feels especially icky to you. I hope it'll clear up!

Something similar happened to me after dermaplaming. Removing the peach fuzz exposes your skin and makes acne more likely to rise to the surface. I tried all kinds of products and it made it worse.
Best thing- leave your skin alone. Just wash with water and gentle face wash. No products or cover up, nothing like that. I know it's hard but it worked for me!!! Skin went back to normal after leaving it alone

For your next time around, I'd try dermaplaning instead of waxing. Waxing can cause ingrown hairs & acne & a reaction in general. How long ago was the wax? If I were you, I'd avoid any makeup or any products or anything else that may irritate it. I'd use Neutrogena Gentle Face Wash morning & night, keep your hands away from your face, and wash your hands if you have to touch your face. If you don't see progress in a week or so, I'd see a dermatologist.

Mine was bad the first time and lessened every time I did it after that. Do not touch your face to avoid getting it dirty/oily. I left it alone the first day but my gal suggested using a gentle toner for a few days after to help keep the skin refreshed/clean.

Yikes. I would think a scrub would be too harsh for sensitive skin!

Also, my gal did sugaring for my face and only waxing for my lip/chin because sugaring is more gentle (but it doesn’t have full removal coverage like waxing does). That might be an option for next time?

I would try a gentle cleanser with water and no makeup for a few days. I know that’s hard but keeping your face cleaner and without makeup should heal it much quicker. Next time I would try dermaplanning, but let the person know you have sensitive skin and tell them what happened this time and they should be able to help you. Good luck.

The more products you use the more grease your face makes to try to help it recover. I hate having a greasy face and have sensitive skin so I know you probably feel pretty gross right now. Gentle cleansers work, I personally use Dr. Bronners tea tree soap, but tea tree is known to be strong so dilute it before using it on your face. Tea tree kills all kinds of germs and can make acne go away.
I've used tea tree directly on acne but it takes a week for it to work, and your face will get dry and peel the acne off. So don't try that unless you're willing to gamble.

I usually get a few breakouts after a wax. It just find I wash my face like normal and use pimple cream to spot treat the particular bad spots. It normally cleans up in a day or two.

Make sure to wash your pillow case too- it can hold lots of germs and bacteria that you put your face on each night!!

    good luck!

Maybe use coconut oil on your face. Look up the benefits. I use it every night and my acne and acne scars have gone away. The oil should help with the irritation. But like pp have said, dont exfoliate. It will irritate the skin more. Also try using vaseline to help with the irritation. I used to use it when I had a real bad chemical burn on my face. Hope this helps
