Help! Florist said beware of baby's breath for centerpieces!

Jazmine, on October 2, 2018 at 11:34 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 24

I don't know what to do! My wedding isn't until July so I have time. I of course fell in love with tall baby's breath centerpieces found in the depths of Pinterest. I love how they look and figured they would be the least expensive option as I didn't want to spend thousands of dollars on flowers. I have been emailing florist about pricing and each have told me the smell may be overpowering in a reception setting. I really had my heart set on them insert crying emoji) . So I am looking for alternatives that will give me a similar look! Thank you! (I do not want to DIY anything as I know myself and don't want to stress myself out)

Has anyone done fake flowers for centerpieces? Can they be just as expensive if I want the centerpieces on the bigger side?

Has anyone used hydrangeas? Orchids?

Flowers regardless of if they are real
or artificial are expensive. If you use an artificial real Loki g flower most of the time they are more expensive then the real thing. I would suggest meeting with a couple of florists. Give them your budget and show them what you are thinking about. Most florists will accommodate your budget while suggesting ideas to stretch your dollars. Also, most florists offer package deals for brides to accomdate small budgets

One of my relatives just had a wedding, and she had baby's breath as her centerpieces. They didn't smell and we were fairly close to them. I'm still going to use baby's breath as my centerpieces no matter what.

Can you provide a picture of what you want?

Orchids are going to be $$$$$$$$$. Hydrangeas will be much less than orchids, and they do have good coverage. We're using them!

    Are snap dragons an option?

What about wax flowers or another "filler" flower?

or only doing some tables with the babys breath and others with candles and lanterns

I made these for $12 each. A lot cheaper than the florist. Yes they look fake and no I don’t care. I am doing real flowers for the bouquets though.

Hi Jazmine! Seconding SDsquared323 here, can we see a photo of your floral inspo? Smiley heart

There are other floral options that are more cost-effective out there! But first, what's your floral vision?

I am incorporating real baby's breath into my centerpieces. They do not smell bad.

We decided to use hydrangeas and greenery. Hydrangeas are anywhere from $2-$4 a flower, but they take up a ton of space so you need less to make a bigger arrangement. We are also using greenery as the filler, again not expensive.
