help friend is trying to copy my ring

I finally got to show my friends my engagement ring in person it's very quiet unique 3 piece set my partner got me it from Etsy from a specific seller sells one style of ring just different color variations mines morganite and gold when I showed one of them her reactions of she wants the same ring just different colors which was surprising to me she only likes dainty jewelery to the point she only wears necklace pendants Smaller than a pinky tip mines quite over the top and looks nothing like the rings she showed me that she likes that's all simple boho themed not very over the top princess themed my ring is how should I handle this I personally think it's rude to copy a friends style so closely she's copied things before never thought she would try and copy an engagement ring I get wanting some similar elements but the same exact ring is too far for me even in different colors

Is this person engaged? Planning to get engaged soon? If not, I wouldn’t even worry about it. It sounds like she changes her mind frequently, so there’s a good chance something else will come along that she will want instead. In the meantime, we can make sure to throw out comments when you’re around her, like “wow, I didn’t realize how inconvenient this ring would be – I’m always hitting it on things, getting it caught on things, etc. If I had it all to do over again, I think I would get some thing smaller”. Maybe it will make her think twice about wanting a ring like yours

Thank you I'll be sure to make comments she's trying to get her boyfriend to propose next year she started trying after I got engaged although it's her first relationship and been less than a year Im also thinking of sending her a bunch of different style rings to get her wanting one of them and not mine maybe saying I wish I got this style

It sounds like she's just a very jealous person and who feels the need to copy others. The fact she is trying to force her boyfriend of less than a year to propose just because you got engaged is a huge red flag. If I was her boyfriend I'd run. As for your situation, I would share very little with her otherwise she will want to steal other ideas even though she isn't actually engaged.

Honestly, she sounds flighty. I’m sure if she gets engaged a year from now, she won’t even want that ring anymore. I wouldn’t waste anymore time worrying about it. Also, worst case scenario, she gets the same ring as you…. It probably won’t even be that big of a deal. My FSIL and I ended up getting VERY similar engagement rings. I had never seen her when I designed mine. It was just a weird coincidence. And TBH, we never even think about it 🤷🏼‍♀️

She sounds like the kind of person who is highly unlikely to be in your life long term so I really wouldn't lose sleep over it. In general, most engagement rings are variations on a few themes. I get that yours is more unique than many but in the end you don't have a say in what she does or doesn't do or buy.
