Help! Having second thoughts on my wedding dress color

Just said yes to the dress, a beautiful Stella York a-line lace gown.

The sample I tried on in the store was ivory lace over moscato organza (see photo), which made the dress look vaguely pink-toned, but the contrast between the lace and the under layers really made the details of the dress "pop".

Help! Having second thoughts on my wedding dress color 1

When it came time to place the order, I went with white, since bright white and cool tones tend to best complement my skin tone, while warmer tones often make me look sallow. The consultant was actually surprised at that; she said very few brides look best in bright white. Pink/blush/nude tones in general don't complement me all that well, and I find that the moscato here, while beautiful, makes me look a bit ruddy.

I also had my color scheme in mind: Silver jewelry, plum bridesmaid dresses, navy, dark blueish red, white, sage green, dusty light blue. All cool colors. I think pure white would look really beautiful with them, and I'm worried the moscato dress will clash.

But now I'm worried that the thing I love most about the dress -- the beautiful lace detail -- will get lost in the white over white. Will the dress look too stark in white? Do I switch to moscato even though it may not look as good against my skin tone?

Has anyone bought a Stella York lace dress in white (not ivory) that can share photos of what the lace looks like? Is the detail of the lace still visible, or does it get completely lost? Also, I'm worried that white will make my teeth look yellow -- not that they are, but, y'know, in comparison.

Can anyone who bought a moscato dress tell me whether they thought the photos looked dingy or "dirty" next to a groom's white shirt, silver accents, and cool colors? Did it show up as pink in all the photos? I'm not too worried about tradition, but I am concerned that this moscato color is not one I'd ever wear in my wardrobe, and that it may not complement my skin tone.

I've got a few days to change my mind on the color before they actually place the order. Help!

Some of the photos you posted in the link appear to be the ivory/white colour. The lace definitely won't pop as much as with the nude-ish shade underneath, but you will of course be able to see some of the details, especially up close!

    here are some more pics

the first one here also appears to be in the white or ivory

And, if on the offchance when it arrives you decide you absolutely hate the white on white, it won't be a problem for your alterations woman to add a layer of coloured tulle under the dress to make it more like the nude, moscato or whatever!

Thank you! The photos you sent were helpful, though most of them still look like the moscato dress and I think those first couple might be ivory? I don't think I've seen a photo of this dress in white anywhere.

I didn't even think of the possibility of adding a layer in alterations. Since the moscato dress is actually ivory lace and tulle over moscato organza and gown, I'm not sure if that effect could be re-created in alterations without basically remaking the whole dress, mind you. Probably not worth it (or in budget).

Thanks! I'm leaning in that direction too. I just hope the all white doesn't make the dress details blur too much.

Hi! I also had a similar situation, I tried the dress on in “champagne” and without a lining on the top part, but knew I wanted bright white because I think I look better in it (and my fiancé said the only thing he cared about was that my dress be WHITE and not any off-whites, haha). I do think it makes the embroidery a little more muted but I don’t mind at all because of the bright white! I love the suggestion above of ordering it in the white and if you change your mind upon seeing it you can ask a seamstress to add a layer of blush/champagne tulle underneath the lace so it really pops.

The first photo is after ordering it, in the bright white. The second photo is the champagne sample.

Thank you, this is exactly what I was after!!! Your dress still looks stunning in the white on white, and it's making me feel a lot better about mine.

Thanks everyone! Your replies helped me solidify my decision. Called the bridal boutique to confirm: I'm going with white!
