Help! How much did it cost you to add sleeves to your wedding dress?

Lauren, on August 1, 2021 at 6:18 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5
I’m having some major dress regret. I’ve never felt 110% in my dress from the start. I felt like I had to make a decision because I had people coming from out of town. I want to add sleeves similar to the photo attached! My dress has spaghetti straps and is a Stella york dress. How much should I expect to pay for the sleeves?! Help! How much did it cost you to add sleeves to your wedding dress? 1

I'm having sleeves added to my dress, but haven't yet seen the bill. I'm expecting it to be pretty expensive.

I think there are some questions that you need to discuss with your alterations person. For example, Are you wanting your sleeves to be detachable? Or attached to the dress? Depending on how thin your straps are, it may not be possible to easily anchor sleeves to them - they might just end up making the straps slide down. Secondly, have you bought extra fabric for your alterations person to do this? I had to buy the fabric by the meter when I placed my dress order, and give it to the alterations lady to complete. If you don't have the fabric already, the seamstress /tailor might not be able to get matching lace at all or might not be able to source it directly from the dress manufacturer in enough time. Therefore, you need to consider if you're ok with sleeves in a different or contrasting fabric.

Really, you need to sit down with the dress and the alterations person and talk through exactly what you want/expect, and they can realistically tell you the potential outcomes and cost.

It depends on the fabric of your dress and the stitching. It can either be a couple hundred or a bit more. Have you found a seamstress or consulted one about this?

I’m going at the end of the monthly but I’m a huge budgeter and like to have a ballpark range on what to expect to spend!

I am getting sleeves done by a seamstress I found on Pinterest. Rosemary Designs. Her prices range depending on the amount of detail in the sleeves however she was very helpful and conscious of my budget. I am paying $250 for glove-like sleeves, and she is attaching them to the cap sleeves that come with my dress (my dress is Mori Lee Priyanka #2026)

    You should check her out!

To add sleeves to mine was about $400 extra. I am doing detachable sleeves, and having the spaghetti straps made wider.
