Help! How to Drape Curtain on Felt lined Wall

Jennifer, on July 14, 2022 at 10:58 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10
The background for the kitchen divider at our reception is black and it cannot be swapped for white. The sheer white on my backdrop does not look good with black as the background so I’d like to drape a white backdrop cloth in a 8’ x 10’ section of the wall just behind my backdrop stand. For other design reasons, I cannot use a cross mount on my backdrop stand because I need the poles of the stand for an arch. Anyone have tips on how to do this without damaging the divider? I was thinking Command Hooks with a rod, but I have no idea if Command Strips adheres to felt. Unfortunately, the divider is too tall for me to just hang the backdrop cloth over.

What is a kitchen divider? Is this the curtain that covers the view into the kitchen-- where the servers emerge they bring out the meals? If so, keep it standard black, and it will disappear in the corner of your eye. Highlighting it in white or double fabric will look like an empty display wall where decor is missing.

They just have this divider wall thing between the main room and where they prep the food. It’s not going to be just a bare white cloth. There will be LED lights on the white backdrop cloth and this backdrop stand right in front of it. It just doesn’t look as good with a black background going thru this sheer. (work in progress. Not done yet)

This is what it should look like with the white backdrop cloth and the lights behind the sheer (plus my other decors)

Will this be the backdrop of your sweetheart table? Or a place for guests to take pictures? If it's not a working wall, I don't think you should stress out over it, and just focus on where guests will set their eyes, like the centerpieces and on you.

You do tend to do a lot (correct me if I'm wrong Smiley winking ) but sometimes the answer is to do less, enjoy more.

Self-adhesive Velcro strips might be a good option! If the “crunchy” side won’t directly stick to the felt, you could apply a strip of the “soft” Velcro onto the felt wall. Depending on what type of material is behind the felt, you may also be able to use staples or thumbtacks. (I may or may not be an elementary teacher! Lol)

Haha but I can’t just stop halfway thru. I promise not to take on any more big projects after this one.

Oh I hadn’t thought of thumbtacks! I’ll ask the venue if we can use any of these options as they’ll be much cheaper than my current idea. Right now, my plan is literally just to bring another drop back stand. I found one on Prime for like $30 (which ends up being cheaper than a curtain rod and the Command Curtain Hooks).

Is there any way you could hang a white curtain behind the sheer one and kind of sandwich the lights in between so they still show through the sheer curtain?
