Help!! I hate my wedding photos

GabelJohnson16, on October 20, 2016 at 7:44 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 25

Our photographer was a family friend who used to do photography years ago but stop doing it.. So she offered to do our wedding at a discounted rate. She gave us all the raw Photos and then gave us all the edited photos but some of them I'm not happy with.. The wind is blowing so in some pictures I have a perfect picture but one bridesmaids hair is in her face or a perfect family photo but someone isn't smiling but they are smiling in another photo. Is there any software or anything I can do to edit my own photos? I do have all rights to the photos

This is tricky, because it sounds like maybe the composition and photo itself isn't bad, but the moments caught weren't perfect. Normally a photographer snaps a few photos of a group in the hopes of getting at least one in which everyone is looking and smiling (it's harder than it sounds). Do you have a few photos of each group/each set up, or just one? Are there a lot of people in the groups? Unfortunately, sometimes it doesn't work out where EVERYONE is smiling/looking at the camera, and we just have to make it work with the best one of out of them all.

What do you think of the other photos... The ceremony, reception, getting ready? Are there any you like? Perhaps posting some for us to see would be helpful for critiquing.

Hmm, I see what you mean with that photo. It's ironic because there are a LOT of guys in that photo, but all of their faces are seen by the camera. Is that the only group shot like that she gave you? Maybe ask her if she has more photos of the group shots that she didn't give you? It's reasonable to ask, noting that some people's faces aren't in the photo. It's very unfortunate placement of people that caused that.

Its hard in photos like this one as pp have said its the placement of people not the editing so unless your really good at photoshop where you can add the bridesmaid in who is cut off i dont think it will look right. I'm sorry your not happy with the photos. hopefully you have enough that you do like.

It seems to me that this has nothing to do with the photographer, but that life isn't perfect and that means no perfect pictures of it either. No one can control the wind, or if someone's eyes are open. I understand your dissapointed, but I think this is an issue with your expectations that no photographer could control.

I think those look cute. the girl with red hair just looks strange to me and it seems to be her in all the pics that you've posted that is kinda off. odd.

What's wrong with the last three you posted? It's hard to tell since I can't zoom in on pictures in WW online. That third one is really cute. Are you talking about wind (I think it looks windy in the first of those three)? Yes, you're being too critical and picky. It looks like you're standing by the water... it's naturally more windy near the water. These are factors neither you nor your photographer can control and photoshopping wouldn't be a good option. Unless they are ALL like this and your photographer didn't take a moment to say "hey, let's go somewhere else to get a few more photos since the weather is acting up", then I think you should take a step back and enjoy your photos... remember the beauty of the day and that you're married Smiley smile If it gives you peace of mind, you can reach out to her and ask if there are any more images she didn't share with you; that you like them so far, but are wondering if there are some that might have caught everyone in a moment with less wind, or something like that.

At least in the ones with the thing you said, the wind and face cutting out. a few of those pics look awesome to me and I don't see any problems with at all.

These pictures look nice. IDK if there is much that can be done about wind when you are outside taking photos. The one about the face, the photographer should have instructed her to move over. I wouldn't stress over them.

You can't do anything about mother nature... I think they look pretty good for it being a friend who used to do photography.

I think they look great! That's the only thing with outdoor photos - you're at the mercy of mother nature! I see what you mean about the face being blocked out in the first one, that's just unfortunate placement. But the others are really nice!

I agree with the others. I think your being a bit harsh on your photographer. They are not God so you shouldn't expect them to control the weather. They look beautiful and realistic.

The only thing wrong I see with these pictures is that it was windy... something the photographer would have no control over. They should have had the one girl move over in big group show to catch her face though but everything else is something no one can control unless you moved inside.

I think these photos are actually really beautiful. You can't control the wind unfortunately so yes - they do look windy. But not in a bad way.

Agree with PPs. On the first one I see your point. But the last three are good! Windy conditions are just part of life!
