Help!! i hate our venue!!

Caiti, on May 14, 2021 at 4:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
Hey ladies, my fiancé and I were supposed to get married last year in October with the original date being 10-03-2020. Our new date is this year, 10-16-2021. I HAD THOUGHT my fiancé sent back the new venue contract with the new date and signature back in June 2020, but turns out he didn’t. Basically, since booking the venue (a rustic barn) in October of 2019, my style has completely changed and I no longer want that venue. Did we just get a saving grace by not sending back the newly signed contract or are we still stuck with the barn venue? Thanks so much!

Attached is a screenshot of the email I just received from the venue owner. Help!! i hate our venue!! 1

Well technically you did sign a contract, so I don’t know if not signing this one would make a difference. What did your initial contract say about postponements and cancellations?

It just depends on what the original contract said in terms of "acts of god" preventing the event (which includes COVID). You should review the previously signed contract

If youʻre not into this venue any longer, check the cancellation/refund policy of the first policy, and take this as your out

Didn't read through your contract but can tell you that FH and I cancelled our original venue by referencing the "acts of god" clause in our contract - we did have to forfeit our deposit though since it was nonrefundable.
