What typically will look better...the white shirts or ivory? Does it really matter/can you tell the difference in pictures etc? What are color shirts are you having the groom/groomsmen wear and what color is your dress?

I am having this same problem! My dress is ivory and champagne from DB, and FH really really wanted to wear white.... So I got him to go for ivory (he didn't know there were multiple "whites" anyway so he didn't mind)... But after he got fitted and picked out his tux, I went with him to make sure my dress would match his jacket.... I went into the big closet with one of the store attendants and she showed me the jacket right next to my dress.... The jacket matches great! However, the ivory shirts from Men's Wearhouse look like YELLOW TEETH. FH made this comment before I ever saw them and I agree..they don't match my ivory or the ivory of his jacket anyway..... So we went with white shirts, but I am still not entirely satisfied with it...

However, the ivory vest/tie idea that several ladies have mentioned seems nice! It's just a matter of making that work with the ivory jacket (he's wearing black pants still--GM will be in black tuxes, white shirts, Oasis vest and tie to match my BM)

So I used to do tuxedo rentals and it really depends on a few things. The actual ivory if your dress and the material of the shirt. If it's your normal tuxedo shirt with the pleets the shirts are normally very yellow compared to white and you can tell in pictures. Note if the shirt is a student material they can be very close to white. If you can take a sample I'd your dress fabric in and compare. Remember you and fh will be right next to each other in pictures.

I think I'll take a fabric sample from my dress to the tux appointment and decide then. I am leaning toward the men wearing white although my dress is a very white ivory. There are so many different shades of "white" and "ivory" it all depends on the exact options available.

I have an ivory dress (I think it's more of a cream, but his shirt is white. It's very hard to find a Tall shirt in our town, so when I found one- that fit & was on sale I bought it on the spot, instead of searching for a cream/ivory shirt. IDK that we will notice the difference at all.

I had an ivory dress and all of our guys wore white shirts. I don't think it makes too much of a difference in person, but maybe if you are really inspecting the photos you can tell. In our case, we wanted to make it as easy as possible for our guys, so we just told them to wear a white dress shirt (figuring they already had one). If you are already having them purchase a shirt or rent a tux that comes with a shirt and ivory is an option, I would go for the ivory. But I wouldn't worry too much about it if finding an ivory shirt is a lot harder!

I have an ivory dress and my FH is wearing a white shirt and a white coat. I'm not too worried about it. He's wearing what he wants to wear and I'm wearing what I want to wear. I don't think anyone would be able to tell unless they were really inspecting the pictures.

I'm wearing an Ivory/Champagne dress, and BM, and GM's will all be wearing white shirts, and Sangria colored vests, and ties to match my BM's dress color. FH is doing white shirt, with same vest color and black or dark gray tie (unsure still if I want black or dark gray tux's for men).

The person at Al's told us DH should wear ivory since my dress is ivory, he wasn't crazy about the ivory but agreed. But after we bought his tie and took it in it didn't look good against the ivory shirt so he changed to white. Since he had on a black tux jacket there were very few times his white shirt was right next to my dress and I think it looks ok.

You can see his cuff next to my dress in the picture.
