Help! I orderd my table cloths too short :(

Cassondra , on July 3, 2014 at 9:52 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11

So my Mom was trying to convince me to get plastic table cloths to cut down on the cost of renting them from a linen rental place. I detest the idea of plastic table cloths at a formal event :\ So I did some searching and found what I thought was a screamin' deal - 90 inch polyester table cloths for $5.99 each! Way cheaper than renting! Well I goofed because these 90 inch table cloths are for 60-72 in tables. I'm looking at a drop of 9 to 15 inches :\ I love the "to the floor" look... So, in trying to fix my first wedding mishap, I was thinking of making tulle skirts to go under the tables... but I'm a little worried it might look like a sea of tulle in my rustic themed wedding if I do this... Really trying not to send my table cloths back. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated Smiley smile

Can you send them back and exchange them? What about using burlap if you are using it elsewhere?

How many tables? Enough tulle for skirting to cover the sides of the tables = A LOT of Tulle.

You would need approx 16 linear feet ( 5 1/4 yard) for a 60 in table and 19 linear feet (6 1/3 yard) for a 72 in table... and that is without ANY gathering or doubling. You would need 2x that for a gathered skirt.

You need 120/132" rounds for floor length drops on 60/72 inch tables. SmartyHadAParty.com has them for ~$10 each...

So exchanging for the correct size may be less expensive (and less work) than making skirts to compensate for the incorrect size.

Fold them and turn them into table runners

You could sew a band of complimentary fabric around the bottom, or cut them in half and insert a strip in the middle as a "runner".

Exchange them; by the time you buy the stuff to fix it and actually fix it, it just won't be worth either the time or money.

you need 108's and 120's at least.

So I went to the website to see about exchanging or returning the 90 inch table cloths and they were running a 4th of July sale, 40% off everything!! I was able to get twenty 120 inchers for only 48$ more vs. 142$ more!!! The return process includes "approval" but seeing that I didn't open/use them I dont think they'll deny it.. Thank you everyone for all your input Smiley smile

Yes, a very happy 4th! Smiley smile

I used linentablecloth.com. They seemed to be the cheapest I could find for decent quality linens.
