Hi lovely ladies, I recently picked my wedding dress and I am in love with it and SO excited. I plan to order it in the next couple days, but I'm trying to decide which size to get. The bridal shop took my measurements and told me I am between a size 16 & 18 (I wear size 12/14 in tops and pants...

Hi lovely ladies,

I recently picked my wedding dress and I am in love with it and SO excited. I plan to order it in the next couple days, but I'm trying to decide which size to get. The bridal shop took my measurements and told me I am between a size 16 & 18 (I wear size 12/14 in tops and pants and regular dresses, for reference).

I'm really conflicted about which size to order. I do plan to lose some weight before the wedding (in January 2021), but I don't plan to go on a crazy restrictive diet and intense work out regimen. If I order the bigger size, I'm worried that alterations may be more difficult if the dress is way too big. What would you do??

Everyone told me to size up.... I sized down instead, whoops! Worked for me though. I just liked the way the smaller one hugged my curves, and I didn't have to have the length hemmed at all. It's not too small, but I definitely did not have room to gain even a pound - I planned on losing weight but only maintained, now I have a month to maybe lose a couple of pounds but honestly I say go with whichever one you feel better in!

Size up. You don’t know definitively that you will lose weight or how much and you need to be able to fit comfortably into your dress.

I was between & I sized down and am very glad that I did. The higher size was WAY to big for me, the breast look funny bc of so much room. The smaller size fit better, but didn’t zipper all the way up, plus I knew that I was trying very hard to loose weight. I went w/ the smaller size & am very happy that I did as it now zips all the way up & still needs to be taking in.

You should always size up! even if you do lose weight like you plan to (as mentioned above) its much easier to take in than let out your dress! good luck Smiley smile

Saaame, I was in between sizes so I went with the smaller size. I have been pretty dedicated with my diet/exercise so I was pretty sure that the 1 inch off my waist could be tackled! Especially since I had a whole year until the wedding when we ordered the dress.. I picked it up last month and it fits!! It is a bit tight, so now my weight loss goal is "to be able to eat on my wedding day" LOL

I think this question depends on how the back of your dress is too! If it's corset lace up, then you have some freedom vs a zip

Looks beautiful! I tried that dress on as well! But wanted something with sleeves. I also ended up with a Willowby dress though!

Dress is stunning and yes SIZE UP. I ordered my dress in a size up (I'm a 4 bridal and ordered a 6) and I'm so glad I did. My 6 fits perfectly through the hips (it's a trumpet style) but is too big at waist/bust but if I had gotten the 4 it would have needed way more alterations and I wouldn't be able to sit Smiley xd .

Go up. It's much easier, cheaper and faster to take a dress in than it is to let one out.

I sized up in my dress! They are able to fix it in places that I need it tighter in. I am glad I went up because I didn’t lose as much weight as I thought I would. You also have a long time before your wedding.
