help me find my dress please!

Lauralou, on August 31, 2017 at 11:56 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

I am trying to find a dress like my Mom's wedding dress. She still has hers but I feel there is no chance I'm going to be able to lose 8 dress sizes to be able to fit into it. Has anyone seen any dresses similar to this in their travels? All help is greatly appreciated!!

I know nothing about stylistic things in dresses so even if you know what type of dress I should be searching for (sleeve style, dress style...) I am at a total loss of where to start looking.

That's a very prestty dress! I have no idea, but What about finding a dress designer (maybe Etsy?) and seeing if they can make something like that

I would either take it to a sale and see if they have something similar

or you could look for a qualified seamstress and have it custom made.

You might have better luck trying to find a seamstress who can make something like this custom for you. or search for vintage dress shops on Etsy?

Have you looked at the styles on www.Nataya.com

It might be easier to find a strapless dress and a sheer floral print bolero.

I have not seen anything like that. Ever.

I would just browse the internet for wedding gowns. Save a few, make appointments at your local bridal salons and walk in there with the inspo pics you saved. Be open to trying on all different styles so you can see what you like/what looks good on you.

    Such a beautiful dress!!

Have you tried taking her dress to a seamstress and seeing if they can add some fabric to it? It looks pretty flowy to begin with, so it might be possible!

Or try to find a custom dress designer! That'll be a tough dress to find today!

I mean you'd definitely need to add the color but they're a good starting point.

Yay! Thank you for your help. I'm going to start by taking it to our family tailor and see what he thinks. If not I like the idea of starting with a base dress and trying to work towards the inspiration of her dress!

Princess Di was her idol! Lol.

And I just found out that her boyfriend threw out her dress in the past few months... after she saved it for over 30 years. I feel heart broken after fantasizing about wearing it.

I swore this was the princess lol.

There are sites that build dresses. You could try that route. For instance: https://www.primandclover.com/

I would recommend getting it custom made. Maybe even getting a similar dress and modifying it to look like your moms.
