Help me get ideas... Winter Wonderland Wedding, VERY small, in Austin, Inexpensive....

mlw, on September 8, 2011 at 12:31 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11

How can I do this??? I only have 25 guests, so I don't want to rent out a huge hall. It would be *really* close, so money is a factor, unfortunately.

I know my wedding date says June, but truth ne known, I have ALWAYS wanted a winter wonderland themed wedding. I am total snow/snowflake/penguin/polar bear freak. It is just sooo me. And with him moving here so much sooner, I don't know that I can wait to be his wife Smiley smile

So if someone can give me some *good* ideas on how to pull this off, I would be forever grateful....

THANK YOU!!!!

Back yard wedding! Do have any friends or family with a good size yard? If thats not an option I agree with th above poster that the legion is a good option too.

Can you find a little house or something to rent for the day - or find a friend/family member that has a prettty house? There are houses around here that hold weddings that don't cost much, but they're really pretty. Maybe a historic home or something? Inside would be lovely too, especially if it's in the winter.

Think DIY. Paper snowflakes can be made to look beautiful. Polar bear/penquin cake topper?

You can also buy a paper punch in the shape of a snowflake and buy some vellum at a craft store and make HUNDREDS. Also, frosted beach glass looks like ice chunks... granulated candle wax looks like snow (snow candles)... you can use a lot of blue and silver... save-on-crafts.com sells dried juniper and also branches. You can utilize all of those to make it feel wintery inside.

Edited to add: Vellum, the see-through frosty paper.... not the mammal skin used for archaic texts.

If you dont want to rent a huge hall...you can have your wedding ceremony and reception in a small hotel.....or in some church.....now a days many church have wedding halls and reception area at reasonable fees.......

And you can have winter Wonderland theme wedding in June also.......just use some winter wedding theme ideas in your wedding like silver light blue and white color.......use lots of crystals....blue up lighting.....lots of glitters....star accent and all to have a winter look.....

I'm having a small wedding too, so we booked a penthouse for $1095 a night and $75 bucks for each guests to have appetizers, entree, dessert, beverages/alcohol, and cake. 32 guests total. I am having a winter theme too! So we are going to have lit crystal trees and candles as the main theme!

Love the winter ideas.... lots of pretty things you can do.... i would say if you're going to do it in June,... just turn the AC down low, to give the chilly effect. I would use blue and white... use lights to give the effect. My sister had a winter cake and it was ALLL white with snowflakes on the top and what looked like SNOW, aka...edible glitter, it was sooo pretty.

baby breath is super cheap and PRETTY...check this page out

For wedding favors you could do little packets of hot cocoa, or little mesh bags with peppermints.....or scatter peppermints around on the tables....

So I have some ideas in Austin for you. What about the greenhouse at Zilker? I think they can do the ceremony and reception and I think the walls are glass so the decorations could be really cool. I think the botanical gardens has a silmilar building. Those should be cheap since they're through the city. Also, there are some cool places for small weddings in San Marcos/New Braunfels if you're willing to travel a little bit. I've lived in the area for ~20 years so have some more ideas if you want to PM me!
