Help me pick my Hashtag

Ostrich, on July 24, 2014 at 10:03 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 5

My last name is McGee and I will be a Malone come wedding. Our engagement party is this Saturday and I'm asking some bridesmaids. Everybody calls me by my last name (besides family) so you can see possibilities are numerous with the Ms in our name and marriage, nothing too creative tho. I'm thinking #MarryMcGee as most of the instagramming people will be my friends.... So it makes sense? My FH and friends don't use Instagram as much. So options I've come up with-

#MarryMcGee

#McGeeMalone

#MaloneMarriage

His family is kind of a long story, and he actually just changed his name to Malone, which is his grandpas last name, but it's caused some tension, so I feel kind of bad rubbing it in their faces that he's changed his name? But only a handful have instagrams but it will be in handouts? I know I'm over analyzing but marrymcgee sounds like it's about me- but it is my parents throwing the party, my bachelorette party it will be used at, etc? Maybe a new hashtag for the actual ceremony? But I don't wanna get complicated. Thanks!

I like #MarryMcGee but it does make it all about you. Maybe #McGeeMalone2015? Whatever you choose, I think you should keep it consistent for pre-wedding events and the wedding itself so people won't get confused about which hash tag to use. My name is MaShelle and my honey's name is Ron. One of my friends named us MaRon and it stuck. So our wedding hashtag is #MaRonWedding (or I may use #MaRonWedding2015 - but it's kinda long). Decisions, decisions!

Great question! I haven't even thought about hashtags. Would you consider your first names or a combination for the wedding #emilymarriesmatt or #emily&matt similar to above? (I just picked a name for your FH.) You seem to really like #MarryMcgee though so if you really like that one and it sounds right to you keep it. I like the idea of two hashtags to separate the ceremony.

What about #MarryMalone since you're marrying Malone? If not I like #McGeeMalone Smiley smile

I keep thinking of me and bobby McGee (is that a song maybe?). Maybe #meandemilymcgee

#NotmALONEanymore (that would be better if that was your maiden name)

We just did #adamandvanessa2014 because FH's name name is very common and it made finding a unique hashtag more difficult.
