Help me pick the color of my bridesmaid dresses!!

mmbrake28, on September 11, 2017 at 10:54 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 17

Hi everyone!

My colors are: blush, white, gold, and garden green. My ORIGINAL plan was to have my bridesmaids wear blush.....but then I got a blush wedding dress (I'll leave a picture in the comments).

I'm scared that if they wear blush, it'll take away from my dress and we'll all kind of blend in? My dress is in the color "moscato", so it's not SUPER vibrant blush, but it definitely has a blush undertone. So I also don't know if I want them to wear white because it certain lighting, my dress also kind of looks white.

Also, my wedding is in August. I haven't even asked my bridesmaids yet....but FMIL is driving me nuts asking what color they're wearing so she can buy her dress, but she doesn't want to be in the same color as me or them. She's pretty early in getting a dress, but I think she's just excited.

Anyway....what do you think!?

Here's the color of my dress. In this lighting you can see the blush tones.

Also....FMIL made a comment that since my dress is blush, it'd be bad etiquette for her or my mom to wear blush (instead of white). Is this true? I think my mom was originally going to wear a blush dress but if she's going to get side-eyed for "matching me", I could try steering her in a different direction.

If you look at the dress on the rack in your pic, I think the pink (dusty rose) dress works perfectly. It emphasizes the delicate coloring of your dress and picks up on the blush tones.

I would think that a ballet/quartz/tickeled would be nice with the blush. I told my ladies they can pick any dress from David's Bridal as long as it is ___ color.

I think maybe go to a couple of different stores or websites and order some swatches in the colors you are considering so you can go hold it up next to your dress fabric and see which ones you like.

You could try azazie, DB, or Weddington Way.

When I think of "blush" in terms of bridesmaid dresses, I think of a soft pink. Perhaps your ladies could wear something in that shade? They won't look like they match your dress, no matter the lighting, and you may be able to find a shade that you really love.

Alternatively, you could have them dress in the garden green, although I personally feel that green is less flattering to a variety of people than pink is.

Perhaps you could suggest to the mothers that they were whatever color they want? They don't really need to coordinate with the wedding party in any way. For example, my ladies were in burgundy; my mom wore cobalt blue and MIL wore a silver-bronze.

Your mom and FMIL could wear navy or gold deeper pinks would work as well.

As for your girls, I agree with pp that the dusty rose dress in the picture, is beautiful. You could say in the pink family but just not that light blush shade.

If the BM wear a pink blush color I don't think it will clash with your dress at all. Your dress is white with blush tones so it will match but will not look the same.

I think emerald green would be pretty. Like a deep blue green.

If you do want them in pink/blush, the suggestions @Meeseeks would definitely work-- blush wedding dresses are usually pretty subtle, but the bridesmaid dresses you don't look at and question if they're white or blush or pink-- they're a very pronounced color.

You could also put them in gold or the green for a sharper contrast. I think the green would look nice against your dress.

How about a champagne color for your Bridesmaids ? That way it is a shade of the gold

What about a rose gold? That way it would pick up on two of the colors you chose.

You could do a muted green or pink. And have pops of green or pink in the flowers to reflect the opposite color

I have a moscato dress as well and my girls will most likely be wearing a darker version of blush

I would order swatches in the material you are thinking about for the dresses, I am finding that different materials and designers look different. I was hell bent on Burgandy until I saw the David's Bridal mesh in wine... Blech. I changed my color!
