Help needed!!!

Brittany, on February 19, 2019 at 8:53 PM Posted in Ohio Planning 1 18
Anyone who could help me at all, it’s certainly appreciated!! I need a great DJ and photo booth for under $250-$300 each. Every one I’ve come across wants $500 or more and it’s just not right. I feel they’re charging way too much and they just want to take advantage of people simply because it’s a wedding. My wedding is on Wednesday May 6, 2020 so that should give me a great discount already. It’s going to be in Canton Ohio. Again, any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Honestly $500 is already very reasonable.. around my area they're about $1000 and up.

I’ve never seen a DJ that cheap and I disagree that they’re taking advantage of people because it’s a wedding. But I would look on thumbtack for people just starting out.

Are you looking for both services under $500 total?? That might be hard to come by honestly. The cheapest photobooth rental I've seen is $450.

I’m aware. That’s why I said to look on thumbtack. I’ve seen people post on here about finding cheap vendors there.

500 is so enexpensive think about cost of film and his time not only during wedding but after. If he has a assistant. Camera stuff. All goes into that.

$250-300 each is $500-600 total for both. I don’t think that’s realistic. Even when I married my first husband 10 years ago, the cheapest DJs we found were still $500+ with no photobooth.

Why do you think your specific date should mean a cheaper rate? $500 is a good price for a DJ. Just because your budget is X and you think the going rate should be X, doesn’t mean you’re going to find someone for that price. My suggestion would be to skip the photo booth and combine the budget you set for both and put it towards the DJ. You can keep an eye out on Groupon for a photo booth later on if you can still fit it in your budget.

I just realized you put your wedding is on a Wednesday so I’m assuming that’s why you think a discount is in order. I would assume maybe dj’s don’t usially work weeknights bc they typically work weekends, so why would they give you a discount ya know? Also this is probably a know you’re crowd thing too but do you really need a dj for a Wednesday wedding? I can’t really see myself dancing for very long (if at all) on a Wednesday evening when I have to be at work the next day (assuming your guests are local)

I would say the DJ for 4-6 hours and the photo booth should be about 4 hours. Smiley smile Thanks for your help Colleen!

Perhaps the issue is your expectations are unreaslistic. If you get quotes for a birthday party rather than a wedding, does it put the cost into your price range?

The cheapest DJ I know is $100 per hour... or at least he was 5 years ago. The cheapest photo booth rental is Picture Perfect and their prices start at $500 and that is with the discount. We are going through them and its almost $700 total for 5 hours after all the hidden costs. Good luck, hope this helps.

This! I would drop the photo booth and combine budget for Dj personally. or vice versa. What ever is more important to you. I wanted a photo booth so bad but was not in our budget, Cheapest photo booth rental for my area I found was 3 hours for $750. My DJ was $700 for ceremony and reception (which was by far the cheapest I found).

You could always set up Polaroids and backdrops and call it a selfie station and have people use there phones and download pics to one of the photo sharing apps for weddings. you could also opt for the photo booth and make your own playlist (I had seen on a previous post your FH does concerts and could DJ) and just have him run an automatic playlist and designate someone occasionally to flip songs.
