My fiancé is adamant about us using plastic table cloths for the wedding reception. Our reception hall is tiny at the church long white rectangle tables. I hate the venue but it is really all we could afford. We are college age 23/25 and paying for almost everything. We have a photgrapher and Dj and caterer. I understand he wants to go cheap because we can't afford much but I really don't want the wedding to be tacky. Has anyone used plastic tablecloths? What is your opinion? Renting cost as much as buying so that isn't an option. Thanks!

What do the tables look like, and how many will you be using?

I assume your wedding is small, mine was as well. I'm about a frugal as they come and I personally wouldn't use plastic tablecloths. I didn't have much of a budget at the time of my wedding either.

Sounds like your wedding is at a church, I'd speak to someone to see if there's anything available to use from the church. My wedding was at a very relaxed church and linen table clothes were included in the chapel rental fee. In the house of worship I grew up in, if a situation like this arose then recent brides would sometimes let a wedding borrow things like that from them.

    Worth a shot. Smiley smile

Are the tables so bad they won't work uncovered? They may be fine as they are but with some floating candles placed on them maybe.

"It's not a party if you don't rent linens!" Sage advice from my wedding cake decorator little sister. We say it all the time. I rent linens for my children's birthdays!

Try smartyhadaparty.com to buy. They have linen table cloths as low at $3.99 for purchase. Most rental places will have a 6ft lap length table cloth for about $15 dollars, floor length for $25. Go for it.

If you have a shop like a Christmas Tree Shop near you they usually have decently cheap tables cloths that are usually pretty good quality. We have a few that have lasted us a number of Christmas' and Thanksgivings! You might also be able to snag a coupon to cheapen them even more.
