Help, please! Finding roles for children in wedding ceremony

Caitlyn, on October 14, 2021 at 1:17 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 9
Hi there ladies! I am looking for some help. I am very close with my nieces (there’s 3 of them - ages 12, 8, and 4). I would for them to be apart of my wedding day but I don’t know how to incorporate them. Our daughters will be my flower girls so those roles are already taken as well as our nephews will be the ring bearers. Any other roles they can take on?

Could the process and be seated like parents usually are? You could also get them corsages to feel fancy.

The 12 and 8 year olds could be junior bridesmaids, and the 4 year old could be another flower girl! Or, the 12 year old could do a reading, and the 8 year old could carry your train down the aisle, and the 4 year old could be another flower girl. Here's a link to a website that has additional ideas listed: https://www.wednet.com/wedding-guests/roles-for-children-to-play-at-weddings/

I second the 12-year-old being a junior bridesmaid. She could also do a reading of poetry, scripture, etc. if she's comfortable doing that in front of a crowd.

Since you're planning a December wedding, why not get bells for the two youngest and have them be bell ringers for either of you? They could enter before the ring bearers or the flower girls. Agree with PPs that the 12-year-old could be a Jr. Bridesmaid or a reader if she's comfortable speaking in public.

My two nieces (11 and 9) are going to be Junior Bridesmaids! I think having the younger one join your daughters as a flower girl is a great idea.

I’m also super close with my nieces! I have 2 junior bridesmaids (12 and 10) and a flower girl (4). Don’t worry about having “too many” flower girls, they’re young enough where they’ll be so excited & everyone will think they’re so cute! It’ll be a lot of fun
