Help please!

Hey everyone, I know this is a little off topic & not wedding related but since I am happily married me and my hubby want to buy a home in Texas.
We have only been experienced as and are renters at the moment and are first time buyers.
My hubby is also active military.
Could anyone tell me the process step by step on what to do? (What to pay first hand that comes straight out of pocket, what our loans are used for, etc.)
Please dumb it down for me cause I literally have no clue 😂

If he’s active military, I would apply for a VA loan. They’ll be able to walk you through the whole process. That’s how my ex and I bought our first place.

My FH is a loan officer but I still don’t understand the system 😅 Talking to a local loan officer or real estate agent will help you a ton. As far as I know, there’s a percentage you have to pay out of pocket (down payment) and the rest can be a loan. Not sure the percentage though. The loan is normally paid off in 20 or 30 years, depending the kind you get. The mortgage you pay every month goes towards your loan. So if you have a 30 year fixed loan (fixed = interest rates don’t change), then if you pay the mortgage every month, it will be paid in thirty years. Interest rates are low right now so it’s a good time to do it. 😊

I would ask around his squadron for a good broker that does VA loans. That would be your starting point is applying for the loan and seeing what you qualify for. After that finding a real estate agent that is experienced with VA loans.

    Hi Ashley,
My daughter and her husband are both veterans and used this website to get their loan and had the best experience:

The benefit to a VA loan is you don't need to put down 20% like most home loans but you can only use it once in a lifetime.
