Help! Seating chart

Valerie, on June 8, 2021 at 10:57 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 14
I had place cards printed already and I had a table of 6 people (4 coworkers and 2 were bringing significant others) so I figured I could squeeze in my 2 photographers and 2 DJs to make a table of 10. Few days ago one of my coworkers said her husband was offered “important work” that night and if she could switch her rsvp to 1 person. Honestly I rolled my eyes at this as her husband is retired and just probably didn’t want to go. Then a few days later an actual coworker of mine suddenly had house repairs for her summer home that same weekend. I also have a feeling she didn’t want to come as I was speaking to her the week prior on phone and both her daughter are moving at the time of my wedding so she just probably doesn’t want to go alone and her husband couldn’t make it because he’s a fireman and is working that night. Long story short… only at dinner will there be 8 people (vendors included). But once the vendors get up to do their jobs, it’ll be a table of 4 Smiley sad They are a corner table in back of room so maybe not as noticeable or do I redo my seating arrangements and get new place cards printed and move them elsewhere? I was disappointed as I went out of my way to add more tables and centerpieces and now I could have gone without them. Grrrr I hate people lol

I would just keep it as a small table. Assuming your coworkers know each other, they'd probably rather just socialize together or will be up mingling/dancing anyway.

I've never heard of seating vendors with the guests. I would think it would make the coworkers feel awkward, like their table was an afterthought.

I also have never heard of sitting the vendors with guests. We had a separate table within the reception area just for our vendors. We sat coworker with others we thought they would get along with.

I suggest seating vendors at another table on their own, they are working and would probably like to eat in peace for a few minutes and not have to be “on”
    For guests.

Vendors don't sit with guests. I would move those 4 people to another table.

My venue room is on the smaller size and we have already filled it with as many tables as it can hold. Plus there’s only 4 vendors and I really wouldn’t not want to just stick 4 people at a table. We are trying to fit as many people at one table as possible to maximize space. The venue suggested seating vendors where there are open spots at tables. Didn’t realize this was so unusual to people. If you have room for infinite amount of tables then I guess separate vendor tables make sense but I’m not going to spend extra money on centerpieces for 4 vendors and I can seat them amongst guests and fill spots.

We don’t have any more space for a vendor table. We have maxed out at the number of tables our room will hold. The venue mentioned seating vendors amongst open spots at tables to fill them in so we just went with it. Plus there’s literally 4 vendors so I cant imagine a table just for 4. Seems like a waste of space.

Unfortunately we don’t have room for any more tables. Plus a table for 4 seems like wasted space so I’d rather fill tables with as many people as possible hence mixing guests with vendors if need be to maximize space.

Is there a break room for the vendors to eat at?

Our venue suggested sprinkling vendors amongst guests wherever there are open spots. We already have the most tables that can fit in the room so I don’t have the luxury of doing a separate vendor table. Plus, table of 4 seems awkward so I’d rather seat them with guests and fill out the tables more.

Like the kitchen? There was never any mention during our site tour. Honestly, I don’t have a problem with vendors eating with us and the rest of guests. Especially since we have speeches going on during dinner that I wouldn’t want them to miss.

Like a staff break area? Somewhere that people who are working the event go to for a break.
I will say, and maybe I’m strange, but I would find it odd as a guest sitting with the people working the event. I would want them to have a bit of time to eat and regroup, not have to be part of the dinner table talk. And if ignoring them would be awkward as well.

Also, to answer your actually question, don’t redo your seating chart. It’ll be okay!
