Help! So, I just got engaged last night (whoo hoo!) and apparently my fiancé has had the ring for over 3 months. Help! So, I just got engaged last night (whoo hoo!) and apparently my fiancé has had the ring for over 3 months. Well, in the last few months I have lost a total of 50 pounds and my brand new engagement ring is too big. I'm terrified to lose it. I want to get it resized but I'm currently away at college and haven't been able to show my family or friends my ring so I want to keep it to be able to show everyone.

So, does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep my ring from falling off? I have tried those plastic snuggie things on my class ring that is also too big but they're just so uncomfortable and awkward.

Thanks in advance!

Mine was slightly big when DH proposed. Not by much but it slid around my finger a little. As much as I hated to part with it, I would much rather not have it on my finger for a couple days while it got resized then to have it fall off and lose it forever. I'm sure he'll understand why you're not wearing it, and so will friends/family too until you get it back.

I took mine in the very next day to Jareds. I don't know if that's a jeweler near you. But it took 5 hours and was $70. I didn't want to part with it, so that was the best option

Call around... I was able to get a ring resized in less then 24 hours once. It all depends on how busy the store is and if they do it in house or not. Local jewellers may do it in person as opposed to like kay's. Mine was fire at a pawn shop that also worked on jewelry.

I wear Enzo silicone rings to keep mine on at the moment, he had the ring sized to a 5 but I'm 4.75 so until the insurance policy makes me send it in in January to have it inspected and resized I'll wear them! It works great and I've gotten lots of compliments on how it looks!(don't mind my ugly nails lol)

I second @POLLY on the ring guard, that's what I put on my e-ring, and it can be adjusted to the perfect fit.

"Ring snuggies" from Walmart. Only $3! Temporary fix.

If you plan on losing more weight I would hold on on resizing. It's bad for the integrity of the ring to be resized several times. Try one of the temporary sizers for now. You actually get quite used to them, especially if the inconvenience bothers you less than being away from your ring.

A temporary solution can be to buy a ring guard on Amazon. It will make your band a bit tighter.

Do it Frodo style and put that around your neck. I would not advise wearing a ring that's too small - you'll totally lose it.

You could do it the old fashioned way and wrap thread around the band.

My ring was my grandmother's ring and while I inherited her ring, I did not inherit her dainty fingers. Until I could get it resized, I wore it on a chain as a necklace.

I went to the jeweler who sold my fiancé the ring yesterday with the intentions to get it resized. They stated it normally takes a day but because it is busy season it would be a week. Since I was not mentally prepared to part with it, they put a metal resizer on it because the $5 dollar one from amazon was annoying. It cost me nothing and they polished the ring for me while I browsed the wedding bands. My FH got me a size 6.5 and I am a size 4.5.

ETA: The metal one is so much better. It does not twist off like the plastic one did.

I bought that plastic wraps things and hated them. I then tried tape and didn't like that either. I ended up wrapping yarn/string around it to tighten it before it got sized and it was pretty comfortable.

Don't put a metal guard on it. This is what Kay recommended to me and I said yes without thinking. Within a week, the back of my run was scratched to hell and the ring was actually wearing thin. I know you don't want to part with your ring, but it's your best bet in the long run.
