Help with Colors!

Leighann, on February 14, 2021 at 1:41 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10

I ended up going with a champagne dress. PIC HERE which I wasn't expecting but I loved it!

I have ZERO design and decoration instinct. And basically no budget for decor.

I planned to have my hair be a Lavender purple color PIC HERE So my accent colors were going to be lavender. Do you think that lavender looks ok with the champagneish color? I have seen a lot of plum and champagne together. But again I can't tell, I have no eye for that kind of stuff.

I had originally thought to have white table clothes and our decor is going to be rustic, wood and greenery. Whatever we can forage for and create from the woods. Think ferns, small branches, green leaves. etc. The venue does have some rustic decor for our use. Apple crates, wood slices various things.

For the linen colors... Should I stikc with the white tableclothes or will that make my dress look yellow/browner? Should I ask the caterer for off white table clothes?

So color combos I was looking at were oliveish green, fern green, lavender and champagne then old wooden brown. Does all that clash?

I wouldn't do white tablecloths because like you said it could make your dress look yellowish or dirty looking. I would see if they have champagne tablecloths instead. It also sounds like you have a lot of different color options in mind that you might want to narrow it down.

I've asked the caterer what color options he has. Hopefully some off white or champagne!

I was also wondering if it looks weird if the table clothes are the same color as my dress?

As far as the colors. Lavender could be the only accent as long as that looks ok with the champagne. I could obviously color my hair a different shade of purple. But lavender is my favorite color and flower.

The main decor is going to be wood color and greenery. Problem with greenery is that it comes in MANY shades. And we are at the mercy of what is growing the day of my wedding. With the winter we have had I can't really use last spring as a judge. I think we will have a delayed spring.

Since you plan on having a lot of greenery, I would have the tablecloths be simple which is why I said off white or champagne. Also, are you not having a bridal party? If you are, what color will they be wearing?

Thanks for the input! No, we are not having a bridal company.

So I was thinking for the groom. Grey suit, His shirt could be champagne color. And then lavender tie and pocket square.

Your guests will not notice or care if the linens match your dress. Most ivory dresses are not that yellow compared to white. Stick to white linens.

Your greens and lavender is a popular color combo for spring on Pinterest.

Have you asked the groom if that's what he wants? He might have an idea in mind so I would definitely check with him since he is the one wearing it. Otherwise, I think it sounds pretty!

Veronica yes, of course. He doesn't have many opinions when it comes to the decor. but he made the big decisions such as suit vs tux the style and the type of shoes he wants.

The actual color of your dress is hard to tell because it's a photo and lightning. I think my dress is probably a similar color (it''s called ivory over champagne but I feel it also could be called blush instead of champagne). I never once have thought about if it's okay to have white tablecloths with it or not. No one will care. Our tablecloths will be white since we can use white ones for free. FH's shirt will also be white (with a medium grey suit). Our colors are eucalyptus green/ivory/gold. I feel when you order something (linen, plates, paper, ...) in ivory or champagne it can be hit or miss and sometimes to yellowish for my taste. I don't think white linens will make your dress look less white/bridal in any way.

To me your decoration ideas sounds beautiful and classic. I think it's totally fine that the greenery is different shades of white. Combined with lavender - to me that sounds beautiful.

Thanks ladies! I'll ask for off white, but if the caterer doesn't have it I won't stress to much. We definitely don't have the budget to buy linens so we will have to deal with what we have!
