Help with floating candle centerpieces

frommstoprys, on January 12, 2019 at 11:51 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
Hi everyone,

I want to make centerpieces with floating candles on top, with fake flowers inside submersed in water. The problem is that the flowers are all floating up to the top. What is the best way to get the flowers to stay put? Maybe hot gluing them to some kind of clear rod? What do you think?

thanks!

Maybe some glass beads at the bottom if you're using stemmed flowers?

Yeah I got some fake diamonds to use at the bottom. The roses I got have a stem, but the stem is thick and green and I don’t like how it looks... maybe it would work if I hot glued the bottom of the stem to my vase filler to weigh it down?

I found this on Pinterest you can cover the washers with glass beads. Hope this helps!

I was thinking hot glue the stem but if you want to cut off the stem you could string fishing line through the flower and hot glue to the bottom.

Hot gluing may not work if it's submerged. I've found glue tends to come off in chunks at any major temperature change. I would a glass or clear plastic floral plate(you can find them in your craft store or floral supply warehouse) that is just wide enough to go into your container and large enough to shove the flowers back down and then submerge it. It should disappear into your water.

I got another question! Are real flowers easier to submerge in water than artificial flowers? Or is there a good reputable brand of artificial flowers that anyone can recommend?

    Thanks!!
