Help!! Wood slabs for cake stand and centerpieces!

I am desperately trying to find wood slabs for the cake stand and centerpieces, but cannot find them for under $15-$20 a piece. I can't imagine spending that much! Has anyone done this? If so, where did you buy them from? Any advice or tips?

Brandey and/or Noelle, I would be interested in the tree slices after the wedding which ever one of you has them last. Please feel free to get in touch.

Hey y'all. There are several ways to keep the bark on these centerpieces. My soon to be wife will be using our wood center pieces for our wedding in October. I sell these real cheap on etsy and give big discounts for larger orders. 12" diameter I sell at 8.00-10.00 each with a flat shipping rate. FFRanchRusticWorks on Etsy. The trick is polyurethane and sometimes wood glue. Use a non gloss polyurethane and bead it around where the bark meets the rest of the wood. If the bark is already peeling then simply peel all of it off hen use wood glue to adhere it back to slice. Wraps the bark with a tie down ratcheting strap until it is flush. Wile away excess glue with a damp rag and let dry for 24 hours. Email me if you need pictures of how this is done. I am more than happy to help. **@*************.***

My husband built this for us! I know this posting is old, but if you decide to do something like this, you need to dry the wood before you put it together or it splits and weeps.

I sell large wood slabs anywhere from 8-14" in diameter on Etsy! I also run them all through a wood planer to make them perfectly level so the decorations are clean and not tilted! Here's a link to my shop if your just looking for future ideas or shopping!
