Hide the Bride?

Dana P, on May 4, 2015 at 12:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 32

My ceremony venue is set pretty far back on the grass and im trying to figure out a way to get to the aisle without anyone seeing me. I was looking into the parasol idea where all the bridesmaids hold parasols to hide the bride before she gets to the aisle but i want a few other ideas. Does anyone know of a way to make it work?

God help me if you find an answer. If I don't, everyone will see me walking away from hundreds of yards with nowhere to "hide".

Thought about doors, but its a bit of a PITA and alllllmost overdone (not quite yet).

Dont hide, just enjoy the extra long "aisle"!

I'm going to have the same problem! He will be able to see me walking from the venue to the ceremony location. Maybe my FH could be blind folded and someone could take it off as I'm about to walk down the aisle lol

M m. Yes i agree! Im not sure what PITA means but i agree its beginning to become overdone. Hopefully we both get a good answer on an alternative to the doors.

    Pain in the ass.

I have no enjoyment of the "extra long aisle" - it's literally a quarter mile, guys.

I'm hoping that when we set up our venue we can strategically place the tent backwards so I can kind of hide around the corner. That's the best I've got, but it's a private home and we're renting everything, so we have more control of set-up.

Mrs Cheapskate- thats a good idea and i feel loke it would be dramatic and definitely make a statement but i feel like that would be boring for the guests to see me walking for forever lol

I kind of like the blindfold idea - that could make for some really sweet photos! I was originally thinking the door, but I agree that that can be a bit overdone lately. What about a simple wooden arch with somewhat sheer fabric - that way you're partially hidden but it's not quite the "doors" thing. You might just want to have someone there to pull back the fabric when you pass through.

Crap, I didn't even think of this. My walk from the house where I'll be getting ready to the aisle is pretty long and I don't want people to be awkwardly staring at me either. There are some trees I could hide behind, but I think that would look ridiculous.

I need to go back to my venue and think about this.

I'd say just use it as a long aisle

M m. Thats a great idea. I've seen something like thay somewhere before and ive thought about doing it as well. The bride hides out in a small tent with sidewalls across from the start of the aisle. I am having a super hard time finding a small canopy tent with sidewalls though for a reasonable cost.

I officiate a lot of wide-open beach weddings. I just position the groom so he's standing with his back to the aisle until the bride gets to the far end of the aisle. Then I have him turn for his first look at her. Of course, the guests turn to look as soon as the bridesmaids get to the aisle.

Kelly- I like the blindfold idea as well. Might be my last resort. Also love the idea about the arch with drapes or curtains. Thanks!

Nancy I like that.... but he'll be facing the direction I'm coming from, he'd have to turn around - is that odd?

I was thinking a horse and carriage or even get some fancy old time car to take you to the aisle.

I always wonder why people want them in weddings. Smiley smile

Farran- I love horse and carriages. That always turns out beautiful but they are about $600 where i live too and there is no way i could move my budget around enough to do that. Thanks for the idea though (:

I am having this same problem. The only suggestion I have is standing curtain rods. I built 3 of these. Then I sewed 2 curtains per rod with a side channel as well as on the top. This way it hide the corners of the pvc pipe. I spray painted the bottom that was showing green so it would blend with the grass.
