My ceremony venue is set pretty far back on the grass and im trying to figure out a way to get to the aisle without anyone seeing me. I was looking into the parasol idea where all the bridesmaids hold parasols to hide the bride before she gets to the aisle but i want a few other ideas. Does anyone...

Kristin- Great idea. I love DIY projects. How much did it cost to do that?

Anyone remember the Seinfeld where Kramer fed the horse a can of Beef-a-Roni and then farted on the carriage passengers the entire ride? that's all i think about.

Well you wedding is in July and outdoors.... i suspect it will be hot, and the very least warm even at night. either way your walking in a big white dress and makeup. if it were me i wouldnt want to walk. and risk looking glossy and or sweaty in my ceremony

I spent $25 $40 for each all of the structures. It was 3 yards per curtain, so depends on your fabric. I made 6 curtains, so depends on what fabric you buy. I splurged on $14/yd fabric... so yeah that added up quickly.

ETA: Because FH told me I inadvertently lied.

I'm doing a horse and carriage, and if i didn't i would be doing a golf cart, old car, etc.. correct, horses poop, just make sure your path is different than the guests path. mine was included with the venue as it has about 5 horses on the grounds, so it was a no brainer

I bought lace curtains to kind of help hide me. Mine shouldn't be too long of a walk though.

Hmmm, long shot but what if the last two bridesmaids hide you. Like they would hold two tall poles (not heavy) that has a long curtain in the middle. Or have two younger ushers help with that? Or instead of poles get 2 long thin but sturdy & lightweight pieces of wood and staple a pretty fabric between them! Good luck!

Faran, I live in the mountains, if we surpass 85 degrees it will be a record, approx 70 at the time of ceremony, and average 10% humidity.

In theory, ideal wedding conditions. I don't mind the walk, I just mind the EVERYONE IS LOOKING AT ME FOR AT LEAST SIX WHOLE MINUTES. It'd be awk.

If you buy fabric from JoAnn fabrics find a 40% or more coupon. I will take the discount per cut not per yard. you if you get 6 yards it will consider it 1 product.

M, just have him face away from your direction. Usually, the guests in front (mostly immediate family) keep reminding him "Don't look, don't turn around yet!"

Perhaps, you could use the curtain as others have suggested. People are less likely to want to watch a curtain move than you. To further reduce the guests starring at the curtain, why not have someone upfront saying something... anything... to keep people looking forward not at you. One possibility would be to have them tell a story about you and your fiance growing up. Another could be to tell some story about the property where you are having the wedding. If you are religious, they could lead a prayer. If they are showing something -- even better. They would, of course, stop talking once you are in place. You would have some silence, then your music and processional would start.

It is your choice as to whether you would like the groom to first see you when the curtain opens (or falls), when he turns around, or when the best man removes his blindfold. (You could also have someone tell the crowd to first watch for the groom's first glance... then to quickly turn to see you...)
