Hire a decor company or buy the items myself

It really all depends on your level of creativity and craftiness... A lot of DIY items add up very quickly and can end up being more expensive than hiring a vendor.

Personally I'm buying all of the items myself, but my wedding style and personal decoration style are the same. So it will go to decorate my house and whatever I don't use, I'll sell. I'm getting alot of it from hobby lobby and things go on sale there all the time, so it's already super cheap and then I can hopefully make a little bit of the money back afterwards. 😊

I am doing a little of both... DIY can ADD up... FAST!!! So for the ceremony decorations I am hiring a decorator and the reception I did the DIY.

I really didn't DIY anything, and we still bought all of our own decor. Most of our decor is florals which the floral company handles, but as far as little signs and candles and things like that we bought it ourselves.

I got way better deals that way. Hobby Lobby, Marshalls, Michaels, etc all have sales year round with cute wedding related signs and what not.

We got candles from quickcandles.com and they were perfect and came fast.

Also, Amazon. Amazon has a TON of wedding stuff (we got our reserved signs here) for less money than a rental company.

It's a pain having all of this in my house right now, but I definitely saved a boatload of cash and I can try to sell it or gift it to other brides, or even donate it to my DOC for her to rent out to people after the wedding.

The decor company might be more expensive, but if they also do set up and tear down, it will be worth it.

Yes I believe I will be able to use my wedding pieces for in home decor as well.

We bought everything. Renting is usually more expensive than buying even if you throw the items away afterwards. And if you actually take the time to sell them to someone else you get most of your money back.

Of course, it's a lot of work to do all your own setup.

See if you can get some help from your bridal party and close family members.

I was going to DIY, but had a consultation with a local decor company basically to ask about renting one of their arches and was really impressed by them. I ended up just hiring them to do all the decor because they ended up being really talented and (in my opinion) affordable - especially when I consider I really won't have to do anything besides enjoy the day. It's a cost that's really worth it to me, even as someone who feels really great at decor and DIY.

I brought most of my wedding iteams online. Last week I went in a party store and their wedding decor just to rent was ridiculous. Only thing that I will rent is a love seat.
