Hiring wait staff?

Danielle, on August 25, 2020 at 10:18 PM Posted in Texas Planning 0 2

Hey everyone.

Hope everyone is doing well. I am very newly engaged here and we are setting our budget (the fun part). our budget is tight. Anyway when it comes to dinner I want to outsource the food from like (already have it at the venue) and just hire servers/bussers. I have done the math and hiring one server per 2 tables for the night at $25 an hour each server it would save us 2 grand. Does anyone know if that's even possible to hire waitstaff only? i am in the Dallas area.

    Hi Danielle! That's definitely possible!

First I'd check with your venue about what type of certifications and licensing might be needed (if they're serving booze they'll need to have Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission certification, and catering employees may need safe food-handling certification). Then I'd reach out to a few local companies for quotes!

I'd suggest reaching out to Ovation Event Staffing, DOMESTIC AFFAIRS BAR/WAITSTAFF Svc., The! Staffing Company | Event Staffing Dallas, and Premier Events and Staffing.

    Hi Danielle,

You can hire servers only with 'May I Serve You'. That's the name of the company. I have 20 guests, and I wanted them to serve the buffet line. The owner recommended 3 people, 2 servers and 1 manager. The 2 servers were $30 per hour, and the manager was $35 per hour. I didn't think I needed 3 people for 20 guests. Needless to say, I'm not using them. Unfortunately, I don't know of any other company. Good luck!
