Hitchhikers Guide Wedding

Victoria, on September 19, 2012 at 7:53 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 17

I just saw an amazing idea! It was a program for a Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy themed wedding. There's a movie about it, and entire book (which I own and have read a million times). For those of you who have read the book or have seen the movie, are there any ideas you could throw out there to use in this type of themed wedding? 'Cause I totally want to do it Smiley laugh

Of course, all the tables have to be numbered 42.

Of course. And I thought of providing everyone with a towel on the back of their chairs before the ceremony

You could have a potted plant on one table and a whale on another and yarn balls or yarn knitted people on another

Some of these you have to read down a bit to get to the info, but they have some cool ideas. Also, if you type in "Hitchiker's Guide wedding" into google images some fun things pop up.

Each of your centerpieces could be themed based on different parts of the books with little cards that have the appropriate excerpt/quote and possibly how it matches up with you and your FH?

Wow! This sounds like so much fun!

I am going to invite myself to your wedding now, that way it's easier for you to include me in your guest list. Smiley winking

We are incorporating parts of this theme as well. We are doing a literary theme (I am an English teacher) and his favorite book is Hitchhiker's Guide (Which I am reading now for the first time and love it) and mine is The Little Prince. I would like to have readings from both (or at least one of the hitchhiker books) and we are doing the Don't Panic programs, especially since we are going a little non-traditional and I would like to explain some of the decisions we made.

So excited to see your wedding come together! I love Sophies idea of each table being something from the book...

    LOVE THIS THEME!

You could have glass bowls on the tables as a centerpiece with nothing in them saying "so long and thanks for all the fish"

Heart of gold cake (or unity ceremony)!

Smiley laugh@Robin--that is an awesome freakin' idea! Maybe I could hang some stuffed dolphins from the ceiling to make it look like they're flying away too!

Haha! such a great idea! I showed this thread to H and he got pretty excited (although he hasn't read the book since 8th grade and neither of us saw the movie, so he wasn't much help)
