Hitchswitch

Melanie, on January 5, 2019 at 4:33 PM Posted in Married Life 0 5

Hey guys, I am super busy with work and I don't have time to change my name. I was wondering if anyone has tried Hitchswitch and if you have what are your thoughts about it. If you haven't, what do you suggest?

I haven’t used it but from what I’ve heard all it does is send you the forms which you can get yourself online. You still have to go to social security office and dmv and all of that. From what I’ve read it’s not worth the money.

I got the cheapest version and all it really does is to collect the forms you need, some forms are autofilled based on what info you provided but not completely correct.
I wouldn't spend money on it again, any way you cut it you still have to use certified copies to send in or do in person: social security, license at the dmv.

I live in Brooklyn NY and social security literally took 5 mins in person, took less than a week to get a new card.

Make an appointment at the DMV before you go.

Alternatively you can mail things in but keep in mind you'll have to send in your birth certificate and existing social security card. For me trusting the postal service was not worth the risk even if it's insured and tracked. If you're planning to mail everything in I suggest getting a few copies of your marriage license so you don't have to wait for when things are being processed to do the next things.
Perhaps the other tiers are better than the basic. Unfortunately they don't do it for you, just collect forms for you to do.

This is a waste of your money and doesn't do anything except send you the forms that you can get online for free. You still need to do the leg work. Save your money.

Unfortunately you have to go in person to social security and the dmv to change you name. you can fill out the paperwork at home. You can also make apts at both places.

Awesome thank you all so much for the advice. I am so glad I didn't jump the gun and just purchase it. I will just have to put some time aside and get it done.
