Hives from wedding dress shopping

Kyndall, on October 2, 2021 at 12:07 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 3
Hi! I just got home from going wedding dress shopping at 2 different stores. My friends and I went out to dinner after and my chest was extremely itchy. I got in the car to discover hives ALL OVER my chest/bra line, stomach, and groin. I am not allergic to anything (that I know of) and this has never happened before.

The second dress shop was not very clean… they had a cat roaming around the store? Which was odd bc it is a highly rated shop in San Diego.
Had anyone had this experience? Do you think it could be the cleanliness of the shop or me being irritated by the fabric? I’m talking WELTS/ HIVES not just a red rash.

I wish I could attach a picture but it’s all over my boobs! My left boob is literally completely swollen as one big hive like ???

Oh no that sucks 😢. Do you remember which types of fabric you tried on?

Oh no I’m sorry that sounds like the worst!
Questions: Did any of the stores give you any champagne with fruit in it or mimosas? Did you eat anything new this morning? Did your ears and lips swell up? Are the welts traveling around your body? Some people have this reaction to Mango (me) and I didn’t understand where it came from either til I realized.

Also maybe some of the dresses had like latex in them somewhere and the in and out of that dresses with lining could be part of it? And it just triggered a larger reaction and then everywhere you touched latex got inflamed (which explains groin and bra line)
take pictures to show your doctor, they can recommend an allergist who can figure it out. It would be terrible to happen on your wedding day! Best of luck!

I would call your doctor or go to an urgent care. They have medications that they can prescribe to help with the discomfort and get the hives to go down faster. Plus, they might have more insight as to what caused the reaction in the first place.
