Hobby lobby flowers

Kylie, on January 31, 2016 at 6:55 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 14

So it's time for me to start thinking about what I'm going to do about flowers for the wedding.. For bouquets, center pieces, and other decorations.. Although flowers are beautiful I've never been much of a flower kind of girl. I don't want to spend a ton of money on flowers since I don't care toooo much about them but at the same time I don't want them to look too cheap. Just wondering if any of you ladies have used fake flowers for anything from places like hobby lobby or Michaels. If so what did you think about them in terms of looking or not looking too extremely fake. I understand they won't look as good as real flowers but I don't want them to look too cheesy. If you have any pictures of yours that would be great too. Thank you Smiley smile

I did. They looked pretty...fake. Real flowers aren't actually that much more expensive (if they even are more expensive).

Love your centerpieces!.. Thank you for the info. I guess I'll look into real flowers. I shouldn't have assumed fake would be cheaper.

Michael's has some nice fake flowers and Afloral (online site) does too. I made all the bouquets and boutonnieres for mine and FP's wedding parties. I was going to use flowers in the centerpieces but started pricing it and decided to do flowerless centerpieces instead and focus more on lighting instead.

Silk flowers are cheaper if purchased in bulk. I agree though silk flowers aren't much cheaper..

Honestly, I just bought some fake flowers for my home from hobby lobby, and they were EXPENSIVE. I filled two small vases, and it cost me almost $70. I'm doing real flowers for my wedding- primarily pink and ivory roses & white hydrangeas- and I don't think fake flowers would be much cheaper for what I'm getting. I'm getting 18 center pieces (half tall with silver branches/ half short with just the flowers,) 10 boutonnières, 7 bouquets, 5 corsages, and a toss bouquet- I'm paying under $2500.

I'm just getting real flowers. I feel like then you know what you're getting and mine don't cost as much as I ordinal though.

If you buy them on sale at 50% off they are very reasonable. I got some at HL, Michaels and even some at discount place called Old Time Pottery, I never paid full price for them. My friend did my bouquets and chapel arrangements. We had candle arrangements for centerpieces.

My friend made her bouquets from fake Michaels flowers and I feel bad saying this but they looked really cheap and tacky. I still have it because I feel bad throwing it out but yeah they look real cheap.

Hi! I don't tend to comment--really just a lurker--but I thought I'd chime in here since I might be of some assistance. I got my flowers and supplies from Hobby Lobby and used the Real Touch roses with some other fake flowers because they happened to have a better selection than other craft stores I'd visited. The roses weren't cheap; they're about $6 apiece, I think. However, the whole bouquet came together for just over $100, and if I would have been smart and bought them while on sale for 50% off like I did for my bridesmaid bouquets, bouts, etc., it would have been even less. I'm sure that's cheaper than what I would have spent on a real bouquet, and I enjoyed getting to make this one. I was able to completely control how it turned out, what went into it, how much it cost, when it was done, and more, and I enjoyed the process. For my bouquet, two bridesmaid bouquets, 8 bouts, and 5 corsages, I think my flower total will be somewhere in the ballpark of $400, even with supplies. Just a real world example to consider!

ETA: Photo explanations: Even the white roses, which I would probably be the flowers with the most noticeable flaws, look and feel pretty real for being fake. I definitely think the bouquet looks more real than most people would expect with fake flowers.

I really dislike fake flowers. I'm not doing anything fancy with my flowers, and after talking to several other brides I know who did their own arrangements (especially for the simple look I'm going for) I just ordered a ton of stuff and spent $300 on so many varieties I probably won't even be able to use it all. I just need some of the supplies to do the actual arrangements, and I only have two bouquets to make - if I had more, I might not be doing my own. But I can't wait to report back after my wedding to show how it went! I ordered from fiftyflowers.com.

RoseGoldPhnatom - thanks so much for sharing!! Your bouquet it beautiful. I love the silver and black flowers with the little blingy stuff too. That adds a really nice touch! I think it turned out great.

I talked to a lady at Hobby Lobby yesterday and she said usually every other week the floral is 50 % off so you really can't beat that.. If I do end up doing this myself and going with those, I hope mine can look half as good as yours. Thanks for the inspiration Smiley smile

WolfWedding2016 - I'll have to look into that website. I haven't heard of that one yet.. I'm into the simple look as well and 300 isn't bad at all. I'm a little concerned since I will need a total of 8 bouquets. I'll have to see what I can come up with. Thank you!
