Holiday Light Projectors as Wedding Decor?

Danielle, on December 22, 2016 at 10:39 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7

Morning WW!

So...I might be nuts...feel free to tell me so...

Is anyone using an animated light projector as part of their holiday decorations this year? I was planning on stocking up on a ton of white string lights in the coming weeks for use at my evening wedding reception, but I had the crazy idea that a light projector aimed at the ceiling might look cool too? In white only?

Do these projectors look any good? Do they look cheesy? I haven't seen any around where I live to make a judgment one way or another. Thanks in advance!

Are you getting married at a indoor venue? I know in our contract its states lighting can not be wired. Battery operated only

It's indoor - a renovated dairy barn. Plugging in is okay.

I'm doing it. There are so many options now a days. Pro lighting people use similar ones for dancing under the stars effect.

Unless you get high quality ones, the projectors look like crap and tacky.

My FBIL does av club stuff and we've borrowed some of his things for our Halloween decorations. His light projector is $500+. Fog machines are $300+. And yes, it makes a *huge* difference.

I personally think the projectors for the houses look tacky and lazy and cheap. Just use real lights and get a much better ambiance.

I agree with Punkin Beer - you need to go with professional quality to make this look good. I was at an AMAZING wedding at a rooftop city venue where they projected on to neighboring buildings and it looked so freaking cool. But they were professional light projectors - the effect isn't as nice with the holiday ones you can buy,
