Home Improvement Fund?

Sharon , on October 9, 2019 at 12:28 PM Posted in Registry 1 6
Hi all!
I know that a honeymoon fund on the registry is a norm now, but what about a home improvement fund? My FH and I have all the “stuff” we need, but we do want to make our home better. Like installing wood floors, renovating the kitchen, and demoing the tub and installing a shower.
Would a home improvement fund be an okay thing to have on a registry?

Honeyfunds and other types of online funds take a fee from anyone who gives. You're probably not going to get positive feedback on this idea here. In my opinion, it's better to not register at all so people will get the hint and just give you cash. This way your guests don't have a fee taken out and give you the full amount they intended to give, so they won't be losing money

Any type of fund is a know your crowd thing. Some people don’t like it when they find out they are just giving money to your bank account with a middleman taking out a fee rather than actually paying for new wood floors or for you to swim with dolphins etc. At every wedding I’ve attended including my own all the guests just give a card with cash or check in it.

That’s a good point! Thank you! Sometimes we need not-so-positive feedback and I appreciate it!

You can register at places like home depot and lowes. If there aren't things like that you want, i would just skip the registry (and therefore, showers) and people will give you cash that you can use for whatever you want!

We did an Amazon Registry. We bought a home over a year ago and are renovating the entire thing. So our registry had things like light fixtures, door knobs, a spray painter for cabinets, smart home accessories, etc. It was a smaller registry (way less gifts than guests) so people got to purchase physical gifts or gift cash. It was way easier than paying a honeyfund site for that.
