Homemade Beer Name

Sarah D., on January 11, 2013 at 5:35 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 16

We are avid home brewers and we have a custom beer that we make that our friends love & they gave us the idea to tie it in to our wedding. We have checked the laws and everything is good. Since it is a adults-only reception, we are going to be bottling home brewed beer as part of their favor- for the guests whom don't drink, we also have other things.. We are doing a bottle of beer per person. At the reception, we will be toasting with home made cidar instead of champagne. This idea fits us perfectly & goes with our nonexistant theme.

Now we just need to name it! This is going to be a wedding-specific name,so any ideas? So far FH has come up with

"Cheaper than Divorce"

It's a Belgian Tripel, which is a strong pale ale.

Is there are particular location or something you want to pay tribute to? We have Silver City Micro Brewery here, and they have Ridgetop Red, Panther Lake Porter, and more.

Do you have a Bev Mo or 99 Bottles in your area? We were there last night and enjoying all of the different names! Im sure something would spark your creativity for your own name.

I love this idea! A couple I photographed made their own wine and had their own labels printed. The bottles of wine were the wedding favors. Since their honeymoon was in Greece, they named their wine "Yiamas" losely translated meaning "Cheers", "We wish you health".

The Belgian Tripel seems to have originated within the Trappist monasteries ... perhpas this quote by Thomas Merton will inspire a name ... “Love is our true destiny. We do not find the meaning of life by ourselves alone-we find it with another.”

Thanks ladies- now to work on some rough drafts of what I want them to look like... we are leaning towards more of a neutral name now instead of wedding specific, but I love all ofthe suggestions!! THanks!!

I like Bail and Chain Ale, with maybe a picture of a ball and chain. The Ale i need is love is also catchy.

    Here are some others:

    Cold feet wheat

    Yes, Dear

    Clouded Judgement

    Matrimonial Malt

    Together Forever Ale

    Takes 2 to Mango

    Yes Dear, Beer

Let me know if you need some help with designing and printing....

We wanted to do something similar but have venue rules and laws that prohibit it. so exciting though. I'd love to see how the finished product looks!

What about a clever name for an Irish Red? We are getting married on St. Patrick's Day and I need help with a clever name for the beer. Thanks!
