I’m on a roll with posting today! Can I get some honest feedback on these? I’m not sold yet, so no feelings will be hurt if they just need to be chucked. I originally was going to do wooden signage, but then saw the acrylic trend and thought I’d see how that looked. Thoughts on these? Colors of the wedding are dark green and gold, with ivory and blush accents. Do I stick with the foil vinyl, or do I go the gold painted route for the words? Scrap it altogether and stick with original plan of dark wood and white words? Just words on the acrylic with no paint behind? FH won’t give input on these, so I’m relying on my WW ladies and gents! Thanks in advance!

I love these. I had a similar switch from the wood signs to acrylic after I got my Silhouette Cameo out of the box after 5 years lol Smiley smile What kind of paint did you use for the backside and how did you apply it?

I used acrylic paint from Michael's (don't remember the brands as I was just looking for the right colors, but I used the small bottles) and a 2 inch course haired brush. It took quite a few coats to get it as dark as I wanted it (you can still see where I didn't go over multiple times toward the tops and bottoms of the signs).

These are lovely!! I wish I had one of those machines but am still going to do something similar with acrylic pieces, paint and stencils. Not making the brush strokes perfect adds to the character of the signs.

You got your pieces from Home Depot? Do they cut them to size for you??

    Hi Samantha,

The pieces I got were pre-cut. Home Depot doesn't cut acrylic anymore, but I've heard that Lowe's might still? I also think Lowe's has different sizes available, but since these were trial runs, I just went with Home Depot.

I love these! I wouldnt change a thing! I would but them on a stained wood block of some sort- the mix of the metallic, acrylic and woodgrain would like nice together!

Can I ask, where did you get the acrylic from??

How did you seal the back to prevent scratches in the paint? I DIY'd my signs too but am struggling to figure out how to avoid them scratching during transport and when they are put on display.

Hi Jaycee. I didn’t seal them at all, however I ended up scrapping the idea and going with mirrors instead (the benefits of a long engagement!) I probably wouldn’t seal them, but if you’re super concerned, maybe a the sprayable Modge Podge or some Polycrilic?

I think they're great! The brush strokes look a little blocky to me..but that's just a personal opinion. If you like them, that's all that matters! I did ours as well and went a little too far to the edge with this one. It's the only photo I can find. Honest Feedback 1

Hi Sara, I actually scrapped the acrylic signs (this post is from last year). For the mirrors, there is a little shadow, but that’s the nature of the mirrors. It doesn’t mess up the readability, in my opinion. Honest Feedback 4
