honest reviews of terrible vendors should not be removed simply on their word, WeddingWire!!

Sara, on September 15, 2011 at 2:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 51

Ugh, I am soooo annoyed right now. My wedding was 3 weeks ago and after a hellish wedding weekend with some very unworthy vendors, I've finally started reviewing the good, the bad and the atrocious. Well, our DJ was just awful. I'd NEVER want another bride to have my reception, Part 2, so I left a brutally honest review of Moon River Productions from Savannah GA. If they didn't want that to happen, they shouldn't have treated our wedding like garbage, right?

Apparently not. Wedding Wire allowed them dispute my entire review and pulled it completely without even asking me for any sort of validation! Who does that? Since when is it ok to be a terrible unprofessional business person and not have to deal with the backlash?!?

Beware ladies, there is no such thing as free speech on here. If you have a bad experience and want to warn others about it, odds are good that your review will get pulled without reason as well!

Yep, WW doesn't give a crap about brides. We're just here to be delivered to their advertisers, like tulle-covered virgin sacrifices. This was a HUGE issue a few months back.

Thanks for posting this. I've been wondering why nearly EVERY vendor on here has 5/5 stars...

I never trust reviews. Always need to ask people who have ACTUALLY used the service. That is when you get an honest opinion.

Thanks for warning me too. I was wondering the same thing about all the reviews being so good.

My advice...post on Google or Yelp! about your experience. Hopefully when brides to research they can see ALL reviews that way, and not just on WW

I gotta say, I have yet to see a bride come back and say, "My negative review is back up!" You'd think that would happen at least once if WW was reinstating poor reviews.

    Hi Sara!

Just so you all are aware WeddingWire does not pull reviews completely without proof that there was no business transaction.

If the vendor disputed this review, it will have been TEMPORARILY removed from their Storefront during the course of our investigation. You absolutely should receive an email requesting validation - and if you have not I sincerely apologize.

I'm going to check into your individual situation and get back to you with more specifics......

    Ok hi again @Sara A. -

After looking into your specific situation, I see that your review was recently disputed by the vendor. You should have received an email from a member of our support team asking for validation of your contract with this vendor. Can you check your Spam folder for this? Sometimes these emails get mistakenly re-routed.....

If you haven't received it, please let me know asap! You can also email support@weddingwire.com with this information.

Also, note that upgraded or not, we treat all review disputes exactly the same here at WeddingWire. The vendor in question is not an upgraded advertiser on WW.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see if Sara A tells us her negative review is back up. Smiley winking

Idk...I'm suspect of the WW reviews. Some of the vendors I looked up had all 5/5 and most of their reviews were from people who had one star, stock photo and one review. Retailer putting up awesome reviews of themselves? Yeah, that's what I thought.

I don't like this idea at all! You should be able to tell other brides what happened at your reception. Maybe there should be a comment area and the vendor can dispute it that way. At least then the reviews can stay up.

Dont trust WW reviews anyway. Multiple bad reviews have been removed because they were disputed. We've asked WW to not remove the poor reviews until the investigation was complete, but they choose vendors over brides.

We've also had vendors create fake accounts to review themselves...

We've also learned that a Bride's Choice Award means you have a pulse...

Always, always, always- check reviews for your vendors on every site you can! Don't trust just WW! Yelp is anotehr great resource.

I was honest and stuck to facts. The DJ was not only unresponsive to calls and emails after getting our non-refundable deposit, but once we actually got to the reception, he'd messed up our slideshow, he told us as the entire wedding party was LINING UP OUTSIDE THE BALLROOM that he didn't have our intro music (that we'd emailed him 2 weeks prior) OR our first dance song!!! As we're lined up outside the door?!? Are you joking???

And that's what was in my review! Honest facts about his unprofessional conduct, boring emcee skills, rude attitude, sloppy attire, the fact that he sat behind his computer all night with an iTunes playlist of our wedding music while he surfed the net! Who does that?!

When my husband and I wrote him an email after the wedding, to voice some of our concerns and disappointments with his service, he sent us the rudest reply I've ever seen basically blaming us for choosing songs that he didn't have. OK, buddy, its our fault you suck at your job??

@Brian C. I'll give credit where credit is due. Please see my glowing reviews of vendors who deserve it.

Just as I'm critical of fake good reviews and fake negative reviews I'm equally concerned that true negative reviews get posted. I've also tried to get this kind of thing looked in to, vendors are just as invested in the whole process as our potential clients. I also have to unfortunately agree on the view Of the brides choice award. I have long been critical of the way nearly everyone gets it making it a moot achievement.

So....Sara has to deal with the DJ from hell....and then have to deal with burden of proof on top of it with WW taking her review down. In the end, how much time is she going to have to spend jumping through hoops over something WW probably wouldn't let post anyway??

Also, regardless if someones review gives emotions or opinions....I want to know about that too. How could someone not include how being screwed over by a vendor made them feel? That just makes no sense to me.

Sorry Sara about your ordeal! Did you talk to the BBB in your state as well? That's just horrible, especially with the DJ who is such an important part of the reception...I would be livid!

All I have to say is that ALL vendors have a reason for wanting a negative review removed but MOST brides have no reason to post a negative review if the service was acceptable.
