Honey do shower

2018, on September 17, 2017 at 5:38 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13

Did any of you have a honey do shower? If so what did you do? What did you serve, did you play games? I just don't want guys to think it's stupid considering it would be for fh.

What is a honey do shower? Is this different than a bridal shower?

My cousin did this, sort of. Invitations were sent for a Groom's BBQ and held at the same time as her bridal shower just down the street (which was great, since couples could carpool)

Hosts bought all the food. Groomsmen went together and bought the groom a new grill (that they used to grill the burgers on that day). Other men brought grill tools, spices, sauces, and beer (groom took home the leftovers). FOB and FOG bought a saw and drill for the groom. There wasn't a registry or anything, just suggestions passed by word of mouth. Seemed to be a success! ETA we just added the "guy" stuff to our regular registry. Most of it was sent to us as a wedding gift!

Hmm, I'd think this kind of guys shower would be subject to the same rules as a bridal shower or a couple's shower: the couple shouldn't plan/host it since it's a gift giving event in the groom's honor and the friend of FH's that offers to throw it (if anyone does...showers are optional) would be responsible for organizing activities and refreshments.

If someone (friend/ groomsman) is hosting this shower for you/FH then it's cool and they should really be asking these questions. However if you are hosting then I think it's a bit odd since these are gifts that are going to your household. Is this something that FH wants??

They had one for my brother during his wife's shower. It was pizza (since it was February) but they bought him a new grill, gift cards to Home Depot and pavers for something he was doing. All the guys who drove their wives hung out at my parents house. Our Uncles, great Uncles, cousins and his friends. I think it's a cool idea.

We are just joining our parties together. BM is planning and we asked fiancé last night whether he wanted to join parties. He just wants to party the night before with his brothers and cousins. So didn't care either way

I think the guys played beer pong, but they don't need games (and really, neither do women!) ETA my family is super gender segregated for showers, so I get having two. As long as someone has offered to host both, it's fine
