Honey moon cash jar at reception?

Alexia, on December 9, 2014 at 8:57 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 50

I just saw this on Pinterest:

A honey moon cash jar could be cute (our registry is about 8 items total and this is a very casual wedding) but it feels odd. Thoughts?

No. No. No....it would not be cute. It looks like you set out a tip jar at your own wedding

This is so inappropriate. Absolutely do not do this. People will get that you want cash based on your registry.

Nope, definitely not. If I already bought you a gift or got you a card with a check in it, then I'm not going to plan on bringing extra cash for the honeymoon. If you don't have the honeymoon money by your wedding day...that's a problem! If you really want spending money for your honeymoon, use the money in the cards you get from people.

Now, if you want to make a jar like that, and put it at home, then you and your FH put extra cash in every now and then...that's cute and kind of fun to just put a couple bucks away each week and in the end it might add up to a nice dinner or something. But just no to the reception.

I woudn't...Most guests will probably already be bringing a card with cash so asking for more its kinda tacky IMO

I personally wouldn't put any money in it. I wouldn't be offended if it was at the reception, but I never bring cash to weddings. Most of the women on this site will tell you not to.

HOWEVER: Only you know what you and your guests are comfortable with. If you want it at your wedding, then go for it.

Ha thanks Tina :-) I might actually make my piggy bank my own personal honeyfund now! It's amazing the ideas you get at 4 in the morning...I should probably go to bed!

I probably wouldn't even have cash with me to put in it. I typically don't go with extra cash unless I know up front that it is a cash bar.

I don't typically carry cash and I would feel like I was just being hit up for more money when I've already spent money on a gift and travel. You're guests shouldn't feel like they need to open their wallets at your wedding.

Do you ever get one of those emails from a friends hacked email? You know the ones. I took a trip to Ireland and I was robbed. They took all my cash, my cards and my passport. I would really appreciate it if you would send me your last dime so I could get home.

The honey fund jar at a wedding makes me fell like I do when I get one of those emails. I feel bad for the person who got hacked.

NO. It sounds like a tip jar at a coffee shop, which is not exactly the vibe you want to give to your guests, is it?

If you reeeeaallly want money as a wedding gift, try putting together a honeymoon registry like honeyfund.com. Your guests will get the hint without feeling like their tipping you.
