Honey moon cash jar at reception?

I just saw this on Pinterest: http://pinterest.com/pin/425449496023047647/ A honey moon cash jar could be cute (our registry is about 8 items total and this is a very casual wedding) but it feels odd. Thoughts?

I don't care what region you are from...it's still tacky. Period.

Not only would it be rude, you'd have the problem of watching the jar to make sure no one steals-- if people will swipe gifts, imagine what they'd do with cash!

Um I think the difference is that the dollar dance is an ancient cultural tradition. If all Polish families do it and expect it to be done then it isn't off putting to them. I have never seen it done personally but my friend attended a Polish wedding and said that the guests got really into it.

That said... a non Polish couple doing the dollar dance would be no different from a tip jar IMO.

Not sure about the jar wedding honeyfund idea, but as far as money dances go.. it's actually not tacky when it's their culture! I been to plenty of cultured weddings.. one included a dragon dancing around, very entertaining and people would put money in the "mouth". So, as for the money dance and things collecting money in that nature I will agree to disagree that it is not tacky if it's in their culture.

Also, honeyfunds aren't that bad. I wouldn't do one because Im not even doing a registry. If some couples are already assuming they will get cash in a card, so it's not okay to do a money dance or in this case a money jar wouldn't it be tacky just assuming you'll be getting cash anyway as a gift?

I don't believe in registries because instead of asking for cash your still asking for something that needs to be purchased. So, in my mind it's all the same- just different ways of asking. Some people will straight out say they want cash well others will just want their guests to spend MONEY on items they want. Like I said to me it all sounds the same at the end of the day.
