HoneyFund vs. Wanderable – for our Honeymoon registry

Tami, on October 7, 2015 at 8:57 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 32

My fiance and I decided to go with a registry for our honeymoon since we've acquired all of the household items we'll ever need, and could use some help financing our trip. I've found two websites for making a honeymoon registry: HoneyFund and Wanderable. Just wanted to see if anyone has used either site before and their experience. Thanks!

Be forewarned: these sites do not go over well on these forums.

As a guest, I'd be pissed knowing that either A) Not all of my money is going to the bride and groom because you'll have to pay a fee or B) They're making me pay an additional fee. No. Don't make your guests pay a damn fee to give you money.

BTW.... FBIL used Wanderable. By the time the wedding came around, 1 person bought them strawberries for the hotel. We bought them a blender. We would have given them a check if it wasn't for them using a honeyfund. ETA spelling

Put together a tiny registry, your guests will give you cash, use that for your honeymoon. Those sites take a fee and give you a lump sum at the end anyway.

Adults know how to give you money, and they can do it without a fee attached.

Make a small registry and spread the word via word of mouth.

Beka....tell people what? You can't tell people to give you money. You never assume that your guests will give you gifts.

Didn't know there were so many feelings about this! What we've decided to do is: have a few things on Wanderable that don't have a fee and that are actually awesome excursions we'll do. We'll also have a "regular" registry at a store, and additionally kindly hint to ppl that we're just trying to finance our honeymoon. They can choose whichever route they want to go. SORRY I'M NEW TO THIS FORUM STUFF DON'T JUDGE ME!

Tami no worries. There are a lot of very strong opinions on here. Just do your wedding the way you and your FH want. The opinions here are strong, but that doesn't mean that you have to agree with them. I'm on the outside of a lot of the strong opinions. Smiley smile

Tami - in all seriousness, people will understand to gift cash in lieu of gifts if there is a very small registry created. Thanks for being patient with me, sometimes the memes create more amusement for me than anyone else. Also, when you have time please read the new to WW sticky on the forum homepage and consider changing your avatar. The default rings are often associated with trolls or spam.

I feel what you did is okay. People mostly oppose the fees. Just make the registries small and people will understand.
