Honeymoon at Disney World!

Taylor, on November 24, 2020 at 11:31 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 7
We have officially decided to take our Honeymoon at Disney World next December(hopefully things will be kinda back to normal by then)! We are staying at The Grand Floridian and I would love people’s recommendations on things we should do to make it extra special. We have both been to Disney World before but we are by no means experts. So, I would love any restaurant/honeymoon tips to make it a great honeymoon!

Not sure about FL, but with shutdowns now or reduced dining to 25 to 50% , aome restaurants may not make it in a year. I would do research when your date is approaching closer.

Disney is such a great place for a honeymoon! I'd definitely recommend visiting the spa at the Grand. They give amazing couples massages. Some of the most romantic restaurants on property with delicious food are Flying Fish, brunch at California Grille, bluezoo, Il Mulino and Yachtsman Steakhouse.

Disney Springs is an absolute trove of great food and for just walking around. STK is a fantastic place to get dressed up and eat steak, and Raglan Road is high-energy fun with amazing food.

I would not recommend getting the dining plan (I know right now they're not offering it because of COVID but I feel like it'll be back in place next December) so you can be more flexible.

I also think it's super fun to visit the different bars/lounges and get delicious cocktails—some of my favorites are Rose & Crown Bar, STK rooftop, La Cava de Tequila and Nomad Lounge.

Also, while you should definitely plan on lots of park time, book your FastPasses strategically and plan for sleeping in, relaxing afternoons at the resort. It is your honeymoon after all!

I am not a Disney person but since you will be in Orlando I would look into a night out in International Drive as there are some nice restaurants.

Hooray! We did a Disney honeymoon, and it was great!

Make sure to TELL them it's your honeymoon - you'll get buttons and whenever a cast member sees the button, they'll say something. Or maybe give you something special (like free dessert!). (Seriously, Mickey sent us at least 2 free desserts, it was great.)

We LOVED the food at Epcot. So. Good. I'd also say Epcot is a 2 day park - we didn't even get fully halfway around the world!

Get the app for your phone - it makes life so much easier.

Take advantage of the "deliver to your hotel" option from the shops. Then you don't have to worry about carrying stuff, or it breaking, and so on.

(You don't have to pay for the photos, thing. You can hand the Disney people your phone, and they will take great pics for you.)

Bring at least one warm thing - we went in January, and it actually got down to 39F! (The locals were freaking out, but it was still 20F warmer than home for us, so we just toughed it out.) ...Then it got to be 80F later in the week, so that was fun.

Don't rent a car - just use the bus system. If you're going to pop out to Universal or the city, just use a Lyft. (Apparently, cheaper and more reliable than cabs.)

When we were there, I could toss some snacks into my bag and security didn't mind. (Like, a piece of fruit or something.) Saves a bit on food. That said, we have friends who swear by the meal plan. But that's something you have to price out for yourself. (The food at Disney is decent to great. The food at Universal .... does not.)

DH is asleep, otherwise I'd ask him to chime in.

Feel free to DM me if you have more questions.

Thank you so much for you response! We are hoping the dining plan will be back by the time we go ( I have a feeling it will be) because the fiancé and I love to eat. He is a professional chef so we love to just go all out with the food and I think we would be the type that would benefit from the meal plan. Plus, it’s kind of nice just having everything paid for prior, I know that doesn’t include gratuity but still more convenient! I will certainly DM you if any other questions come up. Thank you!

Hi! All of Florida is open! We have been fully open for about a month now. We still have to wear masks but everything (besides theme parks) are operating at full capacity!
