Honeymoon at Disney’s Aulani

Jordan, on March 23, 2021 at 5:51 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 8
FH and I are honeymooning at Disney’s Aulani resort in Oahu, Hawaii this October! 🤩 has anyone ever been to Aulani or honeymooned in Oahu? I would love any recommendations on activities, things to pack, how to budget, or anything you’d like to share! We’re so excited! ❤️

No suggestions. I just wanted to say I’m jealous! This is bucket list for me. I’ve heard it is amazing! One thing I have heard is that there is nothing around it, so you’ll have to drive if you want food else where or anything. Have fun!

Haven’t been yet but my fiancé and I have looked into it. My only suggestion would be renting Disney vacation club points it will be way cheaper then paying cash for the rooms lol

I honeymooned in Oahu! It was wonderful. I'd definitely rent a car, and plan on day trips to the North Shore and its famous beaches and food trucks. We didn't want to do any strenuous hikes on our honeymoon, so Diamond Head and Waimea Falls were easy and beautiful. Walking the Waikiki strip is lots of fun—we really liked Tiki's, Duke's and Tanaka of Tokyo for food. The Honolulu Cookie Company has great options for sweet, well-priced souvenirs. I also recommend getting a drink in a pineapple at the beach bar at the Royal Hawaiian!

Skip the Aloha Swap Meet--overpriced junk that's not actually made in Hawaii! For many, Pearl Harbor is a must-do, but it takes up a whole day so we skipped it.

Our favorite activity was doing a UTV tour at Kualoa Ranch. We didn't care about the movie stuff, only the scenery, which was incredible. Driving the UTVs was really fun, too!

As I'm sure you've heard, everything in Hawaii is expensive! We just saved and took an amount of cash we felt comfortable with that basically covered food/souvenirs/some activities. We paid for hotels and any activity we could in advance to spread out costs.

My FH’s parents are actually DVC members, so where to honeymoon was an easy decision for us! Would love to hear if you decide to go!

I have not stayed at that property, but I did spend time at the Marriott next door and all we could hear was yelling and loud activities at Au’lani. So be prepared for noise lol.

That being said, definitely rent a car! Visit diamond head, Waimea falls (be prepared, the water is freezing lol), and Hanauma bay for snorkeling. We did Pearl Harbor and I will never do it again. I got so sick from the boat! If you or your fiancé get sea sick/motion sickness be sure to have your Dramamine ready. The ride is short, but the navy whips the boat into dock so fast. I thought I was going to throw up everywhere lol. The Ala Moana Center (mall) is really cool, it has no roof and has a ton of stores. Downtown Waikiki is really fun too. If you are going to a luau do yourself a favor and go to the Polynesian Cultural Center! It is hands down the best!
