Honeymoon before the wedding?

Jessica, on September 22, 2010 at 9:03 AM Posted in Planning 0 17

I was looking around for honeymoons this morning and happened across this great deal on priceline. $599 6 Night Ireland 3 city tour with 4 star hotels and breakfasts including airfair.

http://travelc.priceline.com/pricebreakers/?session_key=5C0011AC5D0011AC2010092212592126ea30238527&plf=pcln&INIT_SESSION=true&irefid=HPTRAV1216ICON&irefclickid=PB

There are only 7 days left to book it and you have to travel by sometime in March

It is a great deal and interesting idea, but I wouldn't do it, here is why:

    1) I will want all the time I need before the wedding to plan, prepare, have the bridal shower, bachelorette party, etc

    2) I will NEED a vacation after the wedding to just relax and enjoy being married

    3) I will WANT a vacation to celebrate the marriage, I can't imagine going to work the next Monday and being able to concentrate

    4) There will always be a good deal out there, I subscribe to Travelzoo and get weekly emails with deals, believe me, they are out there.

I'd go for it if you want a vacation and have the money, but I wouldn't call it my honeymoon. I know that I'll really want to look forward to going away with just my husband after the stress of the wedding and I'd be sad if we couldn't afford a trip after the wedding because we went on a big trip a few months prior. The previous poster is right, there are always deals to be had. No reason that some other fabulous deal won't pop up this time next year.

There will be some much going on leading up to the wedding, I think the honeymoon is nice a way to "recover" from the stress and craziness. I also think a nice vacation is a great way to start your married life together.

On the other hand, it could be a nice to have a break in the midst of all your planning. And that sounds like a great deal!

I'm not sure what I'd do. I don't know anyone that has done it before the wedding. I just know people that waited and didn't have their honeymoon right afterward.

I say if it's this great of a deal now, you and can go to Ireland and you could probably save enough money again to go on your honeymoon after the wedding. It doesn't have to be right away, Our honeymoon is in April 2011, we were married August 2010.

I used to joke about taking a pre-honeymoon to disney land and then us going on a real honeymoon sometime after the wedding. I think it would be kinda cool! You would really get relaxed and closer before having the wedding...you can pretend to be married already throughout the entire trip and treat it like you were already married. If that is where you want to go and the deal is good, then I say go for it! I wouldn't have hesitated to do it before if we had had the money

Thanks guys. I do realize that the deals will always be there. but i do have the money to go on a nice vacation to break away from wedding planning for awhile. March is still quite a way from September...most stuff for the wedding I wont be able to do til closer. I think I might do it and take our smaller trip after the wedding, where we can lay on the beach and relax. and have the fun explorey vacation before the wedding Smiley smile

HAVE FUN!!! We went on a pre-moon, we left 6 days after our wedding and we spent 10 days travelling and enjoying B.C's Okanagan region, we had friends get married at a winery, so we toured around on our way there and back because we were in no hurry, it was nice! Now I'm just waiting for the Bahamas in April! All we have to do is get there and not have to be here at this time, drive to get here, there everywhere, just get there and relax and have fun!

If you want to take the trip I would, But i def wouldnt consider it a honeymoon. It wouldn't seem like it to me because you aren't married yet. I know i will NEED this honeymoon after all this stress. But, do your own thing! Good luck!

Oh, the reason it's so cheap is because it's gonna be freezing!

You should go - Ireland is amazing! Do be prepared for cold weather. I went in July one year, and it still wasn't hot by Midwestern standards. We're going this November, and know the weather will be worse then!
