Honeymoon before the wedding?

Would it be weird to have a honeymoon before the wedding? Like we get back and get married either that day or the next?

I think it's a bad idea. You'll have so much to do before the wedding

It won't be a honeymoon. You will be thinking about everything you need to do for the wedding instead of enjoying your honeymoon or each other at that.

Cruise weddings happen all the time, so I don't know why you don't think that would be realistic.

Sounds like you're only having a wedding for your family. If that's not how you want to get married, don't make yourself miserable throwing a wedding for everyone else.

Cruises also offer an option of marrying right before departure, so everyone could be there and attend a short reception, and then you could leave on your cruise. It's a thought.

    That's not a honeymoon. That's a poorly timed vacation.

Maybe not a honey moon... but if ya need time away. Maybe a nighty trip to the city over from you or something. .nothing huge just a night away to relax.

Why would you want to do that?

Why not do a destination wedding? That will make sure it is small and intimate as only those who really want to go will be there. Depending on what you like to do, you can get married on a beach or in the mountains or anywhere else you want to get married. Work with a travel professional who knows the laws in different countries. They shouldn't charge you to arrange everything but ask if they are charging extra to make sure. Let me know if you have questions or need help.

I don't know if that would be considered a honeymoon persé, that just sounds like a vacation. Which I guess nowadays honeymoon's are just vacation and no longer drinking mead ("honey") during the first moon of marriage. So really do what you choose and call it what you want!

After reading your follow-up, OP I would recommend just doing what you are wanting to-- just having a small ceremony with just you and FH or you and your closest family/friends. It sounds like you are having a lot of pressure to do something that neither you or FH want.. So sit down with him and decide on something that you guys want.

I'm sure you can do whatever you want. It might be better to try to arrange it differently but it's your wedding so it's your choice. Some people might judge but it depends how much that matters to you. No matter what you do people will think they have a say in it. My fiancé and I are virgins waiting until after the wedding. It's weird how many people ask about it and think they have the right to comment. "I could never make a commitment like that not knowing what I was getting into" okay...good for you? Seriously you can't get it right, take it from me. It's really your choice.

My fiancé recommended we go to Mexico in February before the wedding. He said I've worked so hard on wedding stuff he wants me to get to relax before the wedding.

I don't think we are going to do it and are going to put it towards the honeymoon and go all out for that. I didn't think we need 2 trips, he still wants to do it though.

Doing it that close to the wedding sounds exhausting.

I had some friends do their honeymoon first but it was a unique circumstance. They got married October 1 but went on their "honeymoon" late August/ early September. We all went to Ga Tech and we're in the band and are die hard football fans. Tech opened the season in Dublin, Ireland this year against Boston College. They really wanted to go so they considered it their honeymoon and took a 2 week trip that included going to the game. But they also had a few weeks after getting home to handle last minute details, etc.

Well, this quip is irrelevant and out of left field.

I've officiated some spur-of-the-moment weddings for couples who were on vacations here and decided to get married before they went home. Of course, this is a rather romantic area.
