Honeymoon but no passport

Alyssa, on November 7, 2020 at 12:34 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 14
Hi everyone!! Me and my fiancé are getting married September of 2021 and our main thing is looking forward to our honeymoon! We don’t have a passport and I would get one but Idk how long it will take to come in by now 😫 where are good places to go that are in the U.S? And good websites for them.

Hawaii for something tropical. Or go on a roadtrip or someplace you've always wanted to visit.

According to the US passport service website, regular passport application turn-around time is around 10-12 weeks, so you have plenty of time to get passports if you want them: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/ea/passport-covid-19.html

As far as US destinations, what kind of honeymoon are you hoping for? If you want a beach vacation, Hawaii, Florida, Virginia Beach, and South Carolina are all pretty popular beach destinations. You can also travel to the US Virgin Islands without a passport. Gatlinburg, TN is supposed to be a really pretty area where you can rent cabins and do hiking and things like that if that's what you're into. If you give us more information about the kinds of activities you would like to do and budget, we can give you more specific recommendations.

You have plenty of time to get a passport. I recommend you apply for one by the end of May 2021.
For destinations within the states, I recommend Colorado, Whyoming, Washington State. I'm more of a mountain's person.

You can get a passport in one day at the office! Both myself and fiancé have done it. It costs a bit more, but we both times made a day of it by going to the city the day before have a fun little getaway so we can get to the office early

We had to change our honeymoon plans since our cruise canceled. We’re going to Hilton head South Carolina. I’ve heard only positive things from everyone I’ve talked to.

This is a very broad question! You can definitely still get a passport with months to spare. But if international travel isn’t within the budget, there are many places within the US that are worthy! If looking for hot and tropical, Florida Keys; mountainous vacation - out west. Charming and historical then east coast. We have been to some of the east coast spent 1 month driving and staying in various cities and probably won’t ever go back... we stayed in Pittsburgh, Boston, Hartford, DC (the only place we enjoyed), Virginia Beach (stayed at the Hilton on the beach and checked out 3 days early), Charlotte, Raleigh, Asheville (would go back to The Inn on Biltmore).

I definitely would not wait until May to get your passport! My fiancé had to replace his since it would expire soon. He mailed off all the necessary documents & it took 5 months to get it back. The sooner you get the application filled out, your documents & the pic you send in with it- do it! Before COVID, yes the turn around was quick. Now- not so much! You can get the application online.

Your wedding is in a year... you plenty of time to receive a passport. But where you’ll be able to travel by then might be the issue.

My FH and are are scheduled to have our destination wedding June 2021. We both applied for our passports on 9/26/2020 and received them back exactly 6 weeks later, which was less than the projected 10-12 weeks. If time us your concern, you have plenty of it, since passports are no longer behind scheduledand are processing normally. However, the sooner you apply the quicker you'll get them.

Get them, even if you don't use it. So worth having it. I hope we can travel on September for our honeymoon. I've always said the honeymoon requires a passport. . Ha ha ha
