Honeymoon Canceled - Need Ideas for backup

Kelsey, on January 13, 2021 at 1:13 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 19

So, my honeymoon europe cruise just got canceled. We thought by April that things would open up more but looks like it won't. Looking for alternate all inclusive types of honeymoons. We were orignally planning more of a historical type of honeymoon not tropical but now I have no idea what to do.....

Cancun is good and you can take a day trip to see Chichen Itza which is a wonder of the world. I recommend Excellence Playa Mujeres.

Even any tropical locations will have historical sites. As Kristen said, Cancun/Riviera Maya has many Mayan ruins such as Chichen Itza which are amazing.

Riviera Maya is gorgeous! I stayed at this all inclusive resort, Barcelo Maya Beach & Caribe, ith my fiancé and we had an amazing time. They also have an office to set up excursions. We visited their ancient city, zip lined, rode RVs, to name a few. The resort had nightly shows and other activities for us. Very clean and friendly staff that go above to make their guests happy. We also found this on Groupon! So I’d def check to see if they have any deals.

Depending how much time you have, you could do a cross country or halfway across the country road trip. Some states are more open than others but I know a lot of museums and things like that have opened with safety precautions. Or the Caribbean is operating almost as normal if you decide to go that route, I know plenty of people on here have gone over the past few months

My honeymoon to Trinidad got cancelled due to travel restriction to the islands we chose a secluded honeymoon in the mountains.
But it balanced out the price of air fare was the same, asHoneymoon Canceled - Need Ideas for backup 1

I’d recommend the outer banks of North Carolina! They have beautiful sunsets and you can stay confined to your beach house. You can always rent a house on the canal side and kayak or snorkel on the sound! It won’t be all inclusive but the prices are quite reasonable in Sept/October where the weather is still nice! Lots of things to see and do there. If you want to wait to book your dream honeymoon, like to Europe
, you can always continue saving for it and actually use the time you were going on your cruise with covid free family. Within less than 10 people. A lot of people will split the cost of the $1200 house and it’s pretty reasonable.

I’m not saying that you shouldn’t go to Europe. I think you should when you’re able to. But I’m the meantime—life is too short.

Thank you for all that information. Yes, we still want to go to Europe and I think we will do it next year but in the meantime we just want something for a few days to just get away after all this stress with the wedding. I will look into the North Carolina, sounds like a few people love it therre. Smiley smile

You can always check the Cape Hatteras and Ocracoke lighthouses, sit on a beach not near too many other people, bring some wine, champagne, beer, and a lot of local shops. If you want some more entertainment you can always go up to Kitty Hawk, Nags Head or Corolla for the day. I think it is more expensive to stay up in that area though because there is more to do up that way. But it’s only like a 30 minute drive with no traffic. And there’s more people.

The villages on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore are Waves, Rodanthe, , Frisco, Avon, Salvo, Hatteras. Not in that order but it’s nice and quiet and quaint. And I think during covid times you would not want to be around big crowds.
My in laws really seem to like the village of Avon.

The Florida keys! Check out “The Bungalows” in Key Largo. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but they cater to honeymooners. It’s great during covid. You don’t have to leave the states, but feels like you’re on a tropical island. Amazing drives over all the bridges, lots of restaurants on the beach, some of the best snorkeling and you can even rent your own boats to drive around in the crystal clear water all day! We go all the time and it still amazes us that this is still considered the U.S.

Saint Augustine, Florida. Excellent food, many beautiful historic sites, and just a really romantic city.

    Personal recommendations:
Take a walking food tour. These are fabulous.
Lots of history to be found in the city, from the Castillo to the Lighthouse to various homes along St. George Street.
Look for the Love Trees! Free activity to do together. The St. Augustine Love Trees are two separate trees that grow together and entwine permanently (much like you and your beloved!) - local lore has it that if lovers kiss under a Love Tree, they will be together forever. There are seven total in the city and it can be a fun little scavenger hunt to find each one.
